Annoying starting issue. Im giving up
Hey guys, I have a weird starting issue that I just cant figure out what is going on. I have a 98 h22a in my 96 accord. I have had this swap for a good 6-7 years and for the past few months I have had some serious starting issues that I have no idea what is going on.
Ill start the car one morning just fine then as I continue to start the car the rest of the day and for the next couple days it seems like it gets harder and harder to start. When it doesnt want to start anymore all I have is battery power and has I turn my car to start it, it does nothing. Doesnt even try to turn. Then I have to take out the neg terminal for the battery and pull out the ECU and radio fuse and put it back together before it starts again. Most of the time it will start and I can go home. But over the next few starts it seems more difficult to start and will get to the same point where ill turn the key and it doesnt even try to turn over until the battery (and sometimes ECU fuse) are reset.
I have a new 2000 civic SI distributor cap, new rotor, new spark plugs, new ICM within the past 2 months, new ignitor within the past few months.
At one point it seemed to be more difficult in the hot weather or as I drove my car multiple times throughout the day so I thought it was the main relay. I soldered the points and it didnt make much of a difference so I bought a new main relay from honda and I still get the same issue.
The distributor is new from distributor kings about a year ago. spark plugs are MSD from when I had nitrous years ago
I have no idea what to do at this point but everytime I get into my car I literally pray that my car starts, no joke.
Why would it get increasingly more difficult to start until I reset something?
Also, when I say more difficult to start I dont mean that it turns over and over and wont start. If I get a spark it starts.
I dont even want to drive my accord anymore. Im tired of this crap.

I also think that the starter itself could be the problem. Check to see that it is getting power when it is acting up - you'll need a test light at the solenoid. If it is getting power there when you try to start it then you need a new one.
Hopefully dumb question, have you had the battery tested? Sounds like a battery that won't hold a good charge, especially if you are making a bunch of short trips, and not allowing time for the battery to recharge enough after it gets worn down starting the car.
