Default B20 VTEC Headgasket leak on fresh rebuild

i started my car up two days ago. after letting it run i did not notice any leaks. today i went back and let it run and gave it a few revs and noticed a few drops out of the corner in the front under the VTEC solenoid. remember that this is a fresh rebuild (head was resurfaced, all seals replaced. ARP head studs.. etc)

maybe you guys have a solution to this problem? btw my dowels are lined up, my gasket is on the correct way, and i have a Cometic 84.5mm head gasket (my bore size). the car will be boosted soon but im breaking it in NA. car does not overheat by any means and has a smooth idle. my only problem is this small leak. I will take pictures tonight

Which dowel pin setup did you use? Golden Eagle, stock (head redrilled)...?

I used a cometic headgasket on my first LSV, it leaked the exact way you're describing. Heard mixed reviews on cometic headgaskets, some say they all do it, some say they dont.

I got fed up with the oil leak (I assume you have oil leak) purchased an OEM LS headgasket, RTV'd the oil drain passages and my leak went away.

Hmmm. Sorry for speculation. HG could still be the culprit...

Quick question, when you had your head machined did you remove all the sensors and stuff from it?

Make sure all those sensors are tight, maybe one is not completely tight or is needing some teflon tape or something?

Hope its something simple!

i re- torqued the head studs to 83 ft lbs and it seemed to get a tad better. this tiny leak is my only problem its so annoying. other than that the motor runs great
