Default ‼ Brake Booster Question soft spongy brake pedal feel.‼

I have a question I know I need a brake booster but here is the question? For all you wire tuck guys out there. Has anyone flipped there brake booster over to try to hide the vacuum line and have there brake booster not leak? This has been going on for a while now. The reason that I am asking is I might just call it a day and flip it back over or should I just go get another one from a junk yard?

A bad brake booster would not cause a spongy brake pedal. Is the brake fluid low in the reservoir? If so, check for a brake fluid leak from the master cylinder, calipers, and wheel cylinder. If you can find no leaks, the master cylinder may be bad.

Yes, a bad brake booster turn your pedal very hard ( feel the same as with the engine turn off ).

Bleed your system, your may have air in the system. Inspect your brake fluid because you could take this oppotunity to perform a complete brake fluid change.

ok I have a friend and he is a mechanic and I just bought the master cylinder thats new. So he is telling me that the brake booster is bad. the pedal is hard when the car is off and when i turn the car on its soft and the idle is a lil rough due to a vacuum leak somewhere and its coming from the brake booster assembly. And its getting worse I bleed the brake according to the manual criscross. rr, Lf, Lr and RF. So it could be air in the lines or a bad brake booster?

You mechanic friend is wrong. A bad brake booster will NOT cause a soft brake pedal. You either still have air in the system or a fluid leak, or the "new" master cylinder is bad.

so what your saying is if the pedal is soft that would be part of the master cylinder? how do you know if you have a bad brake booster? whay symptoms would you have? I think I spelled that wrong.

ok today i bought a new master cylinder and I got all the air out of the lines. when the car is off the pedal is hard like how it is supposed to be. But when I turn the car on it gets spongy right away. Can it be a bad brake booster? I can not find any leaks anywhere.

Flush the system. If you already did the steps you mentioned, could be that your fluid is shot.

Buy the inexpensive One Man Bleed Tool and then bleed the brake system like this:
