Default H22 to H27 91mm Bore Turbo setup

There is a local guy selling a 91mm bored h22 sleeved by golden eagle.

Its a crazy deal.. motor has not even been assebled yet but.. i was thinking how many runs will a 91mm bore block last? The walls get pretty thin at that bore to be turboed.

Just wondering if its worth it, i dont want the block lasting only a few runs before a rebuild.

any input appreciated.

Well i know him, he cut the price down for me so i cant really say in case im no longer interested.

I know the price is good, im just wondering if anyone has any experience with a 91mm bored h22 or h23 block. Ive read on a couple threads that it tends to heat up a lot more for obvious reasons and to watch out for that and the head gasket. Im just worried that the walls are too thin... ive always been told by local builders to keep the bore around 89mm to be safe if going the turbo route.

i dont think ive ever seen an H bored out that much, thats asking for trouble what kinda power goals do you have?

being bored out to 91mm doesnt make it a 2.7L unless its stroked, might be close then

It is stroked but he actually has the h23 crank balanced and "modified"... not sure what he means by modified ill have to call and ask him more details about that...but if its stock and balanced idk if its going to hold up to that kind of power. The other parts - 91mm BRC custom pistons to match the bore and rod size since its the 2.3 crank. i believe the pistons are 8.5:1. eagle rods and sleeved by eagle. Love fab full race manifold front mounted, so the turbo sticks out the bumper and its angled dead on for cold side and hot side for perfect air flow... which i like thats the exact setup ive been wanting to do. Dual vband wastegates equal length tear drop design T4 setup everything brand new and fresh.

but personally id like to see what i can get out of it. i guess it all depends on how much tire i can get to stick to the road it will prob take quite a bit of tweaking to get the most out of it and see what times it can really do. this motor will def hit high numbers im just wondering how reliable its going to be before i get myself in deep and need to sleeve a new block and order a new set of pistons and whatever else.

91 Bore is very large to go Boost..

Headgasket problems can often occur even on 90 mm bore.

Hopefully its stepdecked. That helps a great deal in sealing. (Golden Eagle block?)

i personally wouldnt run that big of a bore. but if the price is REALLY cheap then what the hell.. try it out.

I think minus the price to sleeve a new block at worse case it almost evens out in price but not sure ill have to sit down and really look at it.. I haven't heard the term stepdeck too often how do i tell if its stepdeck?

you could take it somewhere and have it stepdecked. but i'd really make sure they know what they are doing...

I'd hope you also use headstuds and not just oem headbolts.

It's a great deal but out of paranoia im not going for it. Im going for something more reliable plus i like road race more than drag anyday and that setup wouldnt be nearly reliable enough..

87-89mm for me.
