Fuel System problem :/
Just ran my new CRX at an autocross today, it's the first time we've really thrown it around. It started bogging down in the tightest corners but after 12 runs it was after the first corner. We had over half a tank in the car which doesn't lead us to believe starvation from the tank, but it only bogged in the corners. We're going to check the injector seals, the fuel regulator, and the actual tank to make sure there's no pieces of metal rusted loose. Does anyone have any other suggestions on what this could be?
What year CRX is it? Early generation EFs (1988 and 89) have a different tank than 90-91. I ran an 89 hatch in autocross, and needed at least 5/8's of a tank to stop starvation, and therefore ran a full tank to prevent sloshing. Then I baffled the OEM tank (allowed in street Modified), and was then able to run 1/8 of a tank or less without any starvation.
I road race a 1990 CRX si and to me, 1/2 tank = almost empty tank on track. Take an autocross where the inputs and change in direct are so aggressive and sudden vs. road course and it's completely feasible that this would happen if your fuel gauge needle was anywhere near the halfway point.
Fill her up, then go out.
