Default Which tires? Lend your thoughts/ opinions/ experiences...

So I'm in the market for tires and wanted to hear others opinions and experiences with current and past tire setups. I'm looking for something that will work day-to-day, provide long tread life, and some grip should the impulse to "touge" an on-ramp rise within me.

Here will be my setup:

1995 Honda Civic DX 3 door
Integra LS Mesh wheels
Neuspeed Sport Springs (1.8F/ 1.6R)
The rest of the suspension is in its OEM form

In addition, I'll probably be purchasing some hardware to correct the camber caused by the lowering springs. I refuse to prematurely wear another set of tires. So recommendations with these products are welcome as well.

As for price range, I know it can very dramatically. Obviously the more inexpensive the tire the more preferable, but I do not intend to sacrifice quality for $50 or so...

Anyways, ley me know what you think and what your current setup is if its the "golden setup."

Thanks ahead of time!

Answer some questions. And be patient.

What diameter are LS mesh wheels?

Will you be using these tires at least occasionally on snow and in bitter cold weather, or do you not have to worry about that (either because you live in a warm climate, or because you have other tires or another vehicle for those conditions)?

15"x6.5"

So, a 195/50-15 will be a good size for the car.

The NeoGen is an all-season, and like any all-season tire, it is a compromise, sacrificing performance for the ability to be used in winter conditions as well as warm weather.

If you're not using the tires in winter, you can get better performance by using summer tires rather than all-seasons.

Wow, that's bad advice. You don't know much about tires, do you?

Different cars need different tire sizes, because that's the way they're designed - everything from the speed sensors which control the speedometer and odometer, to the size of the wheel wells. His '95 Civic came with smaller tires, so 195/50-15 is the perfect 15" size for his car. Your '97-00 Civic came with larger tires, so you can use 205/50-15 or 195/55-15. Different cars need different tire sizes.

That's another all-season tire, so it's a compromise. It's also not a particularly good all-season.

Russ - if you don't need to use these tires in winter conditions, the Yokohama S.drive is an excellent tire for what you've stated. And it's bargain priced at Discount Tire Direct; you can get a set shipped to you for $240. In 195/50-15 they're $70 each with free shipping, and Yokohama has a $40 rebate offer. Grab 'em!
