Default Falken Azenis Sport question.

I just bought a set of Falken Azenis Sport tires. I am wondering whether I can leave them mounted in between autocross events for regular street driving during the winter (I am in CA so the worst things that could happen is rain.)

In other words, is it "safe" to drive them on the street during the rain season?
Have you done it? What is your response?

Thanks,
-- NikkoTypeR

They are as safe as the driver is. In other words, just take normal precautions and you won't have any problem with them. I'm down to 4/32nds" on mine and they are still decent in the rain.

It's safe as long as you're a cautious driver on the street.

I didn't get any hydroplaning until I was down to 3-4mm of tread. On the highway I was going 75mph and it was barely hydroplaning during a good soaking rain. So I went down to 70mph and all was fine.

Brand new I of course go faster. But they stick great in the dry AND wet.

they should be fine as long as you are driving at the apropriate speed for the conditions.

Shane's got the azenis on his 90 and he just raced the last autox event in the rain!!and puddles on the track. ...and got second place overall, mind you!
....we did have a huge rain storm a few weeks back, and the road was so puddled up!! he did say they were hydroplaning a bit.

but they will wear fast if you drive on them alot...and at events. Luckily they are cheap $$

There's only one Falken Azenis. Known as the Azenis Sport as in the subject.

The most talked-about tire in messageboard history.

I feel like I'm repeating myself a million times

I had the Azenis since January. Full downpour on full treads and I took the same corner at the same speed as in the dry. I've put on 20-25 autocrosses (4-8 runs per event), 2 track days at VIR, and 30'ish laps around the Carlisle Mini-road course, and about 8000 street miles and I'm down to 3mm tread. I'm also dropped 2" 1.5" degrees negative camber front, and 2.2 rear, 0 toe all around.

Along with your input/suggestions, I will leave the tires on.
Thanks for your responses.

Right the grip is just phenomonal (sp). You can spend twice the money, which I'm going to do, for a set of BFG g-force TA KDs and prolly get the same wear
