Default Extended Studs

I need to get some extended studs installed and was wondering how much a shop would charge to have them installed?

Also, while googling, i found that many people said when you replace the studs you must replace the wheel bearing? Is this true even when i have it professionally done at a shop?

If anyone knows any shops in socal that can install for cheap please let me know!

I don't know the answers - sorry! - but I'm going to move the topic to the suspension forum, and make a copy of it in the SoCal forum for your last question.

its a good idea to replace the bearing because 1. its probably really old anyway, and 2. when you press out the hub, half of the inner bearing race comes out with it. you CAN put the bearing race back in after you take it off the hub, but i wouldnt trust the bearing after that. just my opinion.

You should replace the bearing when you do it. Better now then in 6 months when it goes bad.

Some say it's required others don't.
If this were me i would just get new ones.

this. The best way to do it is buy the studs and wheel bearings yourself, then get the bearings pressed and the studs put in at a competent shop. Doing bearings and studs yourself can be a major pain without the right tools.

100% correct, although I didn't replace mine when i put my studs in because I can easily put new ones in myself if they go bad down the road, but the shop is going to tell you to replace them to cover their asses. Its going to be a lot of labor man because the knuckles have to be removed from the vehicle then pressed out. If you can, the best thing is to put your car up on jack stands and bring your knuckles/rear hubs in some place with a press and see if anybody wants to press them out/back in for you for some quick cash.

I do know someone who installed extendend studs and his kept his orginal wheels bearing with around 90k on them. Well a year and about 12k miles and they are still just fine....

Sence you are haveing a shop do it, you might as well do it know while its all apart.
