Alright I have a 1997 Honda Accord as a daily driver with 202,xxx miles that I picked up two years ago for $800. So to say the least I don't really take the best care of the car but she hasn't really given me any serious issues until last week. I was driving home from work and the car died, all the gauges dropped. Now the cd player kept playing and the lights stayed on but the car itself died. After about five secoud sit just came back on so I contiued down the road when the car turned off again so I pulled over and put her in park. After about a minute I tried to turn the car on and it started right up, so I went about my way so I could get home and nothing happen from there on. That night I went to start the car and I realized when I turn the key to the accessory it makes 2-3 clicking sounds like a bad relay or something but it starts every time, the car has never not started. I hear the clicking every time I turn the key but in the last week the car hasn't shut off until last night. I was driving home last night and the car shut off on me but all the lights stayed on again as well as the radio. Pulled to the side of the road and put the car in park and started in right up and contiued to drive home. Drove to work this morning and nothing as of yet besides that clicking sound as always.

The car does have some CEL lights but they have always been on, I changed the oil this weekend and saw the o-rings for the valve cover gasket were shot and allowed tons of oil in with the plugs so I fixed that.

 

Read the codes from the CEL. It will give you lots of clues.

 

6,63,70 but its been this way for two plus years now. A few times the light shut off for a couple hundred miles before coming back on.

yea check the codes, ur plugs can also be flooded due to the seals.

 

Yea I put new plugs and wires after I replaced the gasket.

Went to advance, had five different codes :x

Two of them are for the O2 sensors, I'll get around to those. Another is for the ECT if I remember correctly which is the coolant tempt sensor I believe. The last two I don't recall exactly what the scanner said but they both had to do with crank. One said something along the lines of TCC crank voltage or something... this leads me to believe that maybe the dizzy if on its way out?

 

Anyone else have any ideas? I replaced the ECT sensor, the cap and rotor. Still have codes for the O2 sensors and something to do with the crank, but again these have always been here. The car shuts off about every three days and as I learned last night the lights do shut off, which was a bit scary. I really don't want to waste money on a dizzy if thats not it but I'm starting to think I have no choice...

Edit: The only CEL code I have no is for the O2 sensor... code a bad wire be making the car shut off though? I bought a car in the past and some moron decide to extend the O2 wiring to the header and it made the car do weird *** things and through random CEL lights. The car still also makes the clicking sound when I turn the key onto the "ON" spot...
