Boosted GSR - New Member - Need help...
Please don't crush my lack of knowledge, because I am new to high performance Honda's, but I am definitely hooked on the speed and torque... I am having some issues and my buddies told me to try honda-tech. I am not rich by any means, so I do the best I can with what I can save and buy. I have a 97 Acura Integra GSR (OBD2 converted with a boomsling). I have COMPLETELY went through the motor, and I have babied it for the first 1,000 miles. Now that I am through the break in period, I am having an issue with my car completely losing power and boost just after 10 lbs of boost. It runs GREAT up till 11 lbs, and then it completely loses all boost and power until I back off the throttle. Here is what I have. I saved and bought a B18C motor for my build. Under guidance from boosted friends, I purchased all of the following: new RSC 550 injectors, new wiseco pistons, new ARP Head Bolts, new Eagle Rods, new HKS BOV, new external wastegate, new 14.5 spring, a p28 ECU chipped on Chrome, new intercooler and piping, new aluminum radiator and slim fan, new OEM oil pump, new walbro 255 fuel pump, new 3 bar map sensor, new AEM Wideband, new cast iron intake manifold, new boost gauge, new exhaust, and THEN I "ran out of $$$" so I bought a used small turbo from a friend who upgraded (spools pretty quickly and doesn't smoke at all), and I think that's about it. I have tried to eliminate possibilities, 1 item after the next by pulling parts from each of my friends working boosted cars. We have tried ohming out the fuel injectors (no problems), we tried swapping out the distributor, trying another map sensor, trying another fuel pump, and I am at a LOSS.... Can you please help me with any ideas of what to try next ? thanks for any and all help....
Sounds like the "chipped" ECU still has the NA provisions that restrict the 11psi setup on the MAP sensor. You'll need better engine management.
Hey dude, save up for a hondata s300 it is sooo well worth the investment, I bet you can fix the issue with an upgraded engine managment aswell.
You can't just plug a 3bar map in and go! The ecu has to be set for the map you are running! Also, you may have a boost cut set a 11psi to protect the motor while on the stock map. I'd try putting a 7psi spring in the wastegate and see how the car runs on that.

Get yourself a tune and you should be good to go. So many people spend countless amounts of their car and then do not even get a reputable tuner to tune the car. This all stems from not having the proper knowledge about turbocharging and how it works

Thanks for the input though, I appreciate ANY and all advice and help....
tune it bro. you cant just throw a map sensor on and rock out with ya **** out. ya gotta get tuned. it sounds like the chip was setup just to start the car and is programmed for a stock map sensor
I have a GM3 bar, there is a chance you mightve just used a bunk sensor. What kind was it? are you sure its not just another stock sensor? If you want to buy one new try the omnipower or hondata one. And definitely tune. too many people overlook having their car tuned after putting on all these parts. Just cant expect the car to run like factory unfortunately.
