i am very new to the honda scene and I am wanting to learn how to fix/swap/ and everything else that goes along with civic's.
I just bought a 98 civic dx with 76,000 miles. (now has 81,000)
The car has been in a few accidents and the passenger's side quater panel is all bondo and the car is all rusted and what not.
but the it still has the original 1.6 engine in it and is an automatic.
i bought it with the hx rims on it and the car is painted like a tealish color (but a really shitty paint job)
it was lowered with ebay coilovers and i swapped suspension with some other civic guy and now i have purple springs instead of red... (thats besides the point)
I bought it for 2k

so was this a good buy?
and should i swap my hx rims with this other kid for his 17inch rims and a vtec header? would a vtec header even work on the 1.6, 4cyl engine?

hang on to your HX rims. 17s are big for a civic and heavy, those HX wheels are super light.

 

Thats what i was thinking. and i've had 3 people ask for them in the past month. so i think they are highly wanted. so i will just strip the paint and repaint them.

 

wow... got way better than me for 2k... i think i got ripped off... 93 civic with no paint, totally gutted, rebuilt d15b7 head on b8 block with arp head studs... and a cracked cam support post

 

a few accidents? thats no good at all. the paint doesnt look too bad besides the color, just my opinion. and there is no such thing as a "vtec header", there are headers that fit certain series engines.

as was stated there isn't such a thing as a "vtec header" - rule #1 for the honda game, dont let people trick you into buying stuff/parts off of them because they flash the word vtec like crazy, you should go to how stuff works and read up on how vtec actually works (it was actually created for efficiency - the reason the vtec motors always have more hp is cause the compression is always higher, not because they have valve timing but valve timing is a great benefit)

think you could have got something a little cleaner for 2600 or so, but good luck.

 

the engine only has 81,000 miles on it. I can't drive the car in the winter because there are no wheel wells. I was going to park the car in the winter and work on it and learn about it. so i could sell it for more.

i don't think it was actually spray painted, just there are little particals in the paint, i plan of wet sanding the body and then everything would be good.

 

Not a bad pick up. But just to let you know people with throw the word VTEC infront of anything Honda related to make you want it and pay more (ebay and craigslist mainly). Keep the HX's they look really clean and go with the car nicley, anymore pics?

vtec headers wont give you vtec......you need a vtec head...d16z6 or d16y8 head, you currently have a d16y7 no vtec at all....if you want more info. u could text me or pm me here
