ON a D15 - with the intake manifold still on will the engine. Should it come out threw the bottom or does It need to come out the top?

It’s time for me to do a clutch job. I figure just a few more bolts and the engine will come out. Right? Then I can easily do that wire tuck job I’ve been dreaming of.

I pull the head then take the trans/block out of the bottom.

You dont need to pull the head. The whole thing will come out of the bottom. Is the car going to be on a lift?

Jack stands. But I have access to a lift if absolutely needed.

It is easier on a lift but jack stands will work but you have to get the front really high to get it out of the bottom.

Use chains to connect to the front tow hooks from in the engine bay. Lift the car with an engine lift. Slide the engine out. Its really that easy. Be safe and don't get under the car while its in the air. Use rope or chain to slide the engine out.

If you have an engine hoist just use it to pull the motor out from the top. Why do the extra work to get it from the bottom.

i've done both. i find through the top is easier for me, if the trans is still attached to the motor. if not through the bottom is definitely the easier way to drop it. i don't like fighting with radius rods and all that junk

Heeyy... I like that idea!

Another question to add to the mix, do I need to remove the radiator and fans?

The tranny will be separated at this point. As mentioned above this crazy idea started its life as a clutch job turn to wire tuck.

If you have the engine hoist why not just pull engine and trans together out the top and split them on the floor to do the clutch?
