Default built motor, few problems i cant figure out

ok i rebuilt an ls, with forged rods and pistons, stock head with 9.8-1 compression. The motor ran fine for the first 50 miles and now it has a few problems.

-the head ticks loudly (rpm dependent)
-loud howling sound ONLY when warmed up, at idle and when im off the gas
-car smokes now

anyone experience these problems or have any advice?

Valve adjustment off.
Possibly a bearing gone.
Oil rings or valve guides gone west. 94

it doesnt smoke anymore, but the head still ticks. i did a valve adjustment and they are dead on. One of my buddy's said that when he put a fresh head on his 240 it ticked like that for a thousand mile and after that it stopped. Could it be something like that?
