Default Using full DA F/R brakes with 13/16th's brake booster and master cylinder.

I know I should run the DA 15/16th's brake master and booster with the DA brakes. I can't seem to locate one nor the ABS 1". The one I was going to get off the car that I got the brakes from was bent at the flange that goes on to the brake booster.

So my question is: If I run my stock 13/16th's booster and master to get me by for awhile till I source one, will it be safe? I don't plan on needing to stop really quick from 100mph or anything. Just wanna get the brakes on while I have the next 4 days off.

Thanks

i did the same on my 89 sedan i used 91 da front and rear disk setup with the 40/40 prop valve but keep the stock sedan booster and m/c. brakes worked better and with no problems. ran that setup for about 4 years, i never did the larger booster and m/c cuz i couldn't find any good ones in the junkyard

I did this swap last summer. If your car is a STD or hf chassis, don't waste your time attempting to use the stock master & booster. I did, car felt fine in the driveway and on sidestreets, and scared the *#%+ outta me when I almost rear ended someone trying to stop from a normal speed. I found a teg master and booster on eBay from a parts recycler for under a hundo shipped, I think I spent like 60-70ish on it. It's a very critical part when it comes to stopping. The question is what's your life worth?, do you really wanna risk it?

technically the answer is YES, it does WORK. Here's the catch - you don't have much wiggle room, its all used up. a normal brake system can withstand several faulty parts and still stop the car. a sticky valve, a vacuum leak, a leaking line, a bad brake cylinder, any little thing could cause severe failure, things that normally wouldn't. If you're using used parts, some are probably not in spec. Well service brakes should work just fine with the smaller MC and booster. Even then, something can fail, and its gonna ber worse if you're already somewhat crippled by the smaller MC and booster.

By rule of thumb, it would be preferable to upgrade the Booster and Master with the DA Front/Rears, but it could and would work on the stock booster, STILL with greater overall stopping performance then the stock fronts/rears, but LESS then with a DA Booster/Master.

So..I'd say go for it. Get the DA/Booster as soon as possible though.

I don't think that is possible the bolt pattern is different. the MC won't bolt up

That wont work. I'm pretty sure the DA uses the same brake booster as the Civic EX.

That was really informative. But good luck to me to finding a 90-91 Civic EX brake master. I've never even SEEN a 90-91 Civic EX in person where I live. Only LX and DX.

Edit: I was just looking on Majestic Honda and there are 2 DIFFERENT part numbers for the STD brake booster and the EX brake booster. STD - 46400-SH3-A02 and the EX - 46400-SD2-A04. Also the STD/DX/Si brake booster is an 8" and the EX is a 9"....... So how the hell will that work out?

"THE BOOSTER DOES NOT MATTER".......only the MC. goto rockauto.com goto HONDA, then 91, then CIVIC EX, then BRAKE/ WHEEL HUB, then MASTER CYLINDER, then chose the cheapest one thats a 15/16 bore. bam all done bolt it up to your existing booster and connect your hard lines. you do not have to swap the Brake booster. slap in a 40/40 pro valve and your all set for DA front and rear disc now. case closed

oh and i believe they are talking about the size of the booster, which may be bigger but still has the same bolt pattern and accepst both 13/16 and 15/16 MC, someone chime in and correct me if im wrong.

Everything from the DA will work great. Please look at the FAQ you will see I actually put the alignment myth to the grave.

The DA NON-ABS setup is a 260v with a 15/16 MC. This is a great setup as the EX MC on stock booster really doesn't do anything. I would encourage you to stay on route with the DA stuff. I have tracked (road course) my car with DA stuff for over 5 years also street driven on occasion.

There is no 1" for the 260v booster as that is a different pattern for bolting up and the pushrod in the booster is different.

YOU CANNOT MIX AND MATCH ABS BOOSTER WITH NON-ABS MC. If you want a 1" MC then you need to get a 290v (ABS) booster and get the 1" MC from a newer Integra. You will also need the fitting on the brake line that goes on the rear of the MC as you will have to cut the fitting off and flare on the new fitting.

taking into consideration what toad said. if you are going to track or rally your crx. then i would say go for the whole da MC and booster. but if your just a weekend warrior from the grocery store to jack in the box and back, "like me " then you'll be more than safe with the stock booster and a 15/16 Mc.

Thank you guys. I found a 91 Integra without ABS at my local junkyard and picked up a brake booster and master for $27.

Now I just need to figure out how to adjust the outer tie rods to straighten the wheels out enough to make it down to the alignment rack.
