88 prelude si 4ws failed smog, high NO at 25mph
failed smog with high NO on the 25mph run but passed the 15
ignition timing was set at 12 btdc but the tech said he wasnt sure if it should have been 4 or 10 btdc, he said he checked the internet and said it should have been set at 10 but the book said 4?
The results:
15mph at 1787 rpm:
%CO2:14.8 %O2:0.0 HC:MAX 87 MEAS 83 CO:MAX.78 MEAS .09
NO:MAX 685 MEAS 78
25mph at 2097 rpm:
%CO2:14.8 %O2:0.0 HC:MAX 69 MEAS 23 CO:MAX.66 MEAS .01
NO:MAX 543 MEAS 781
I already passed back in april but we are smogging it to transer the title for sale and nothing has really changed in the 1000 miles i drove the car except the timing, the smog that passed in april was set at 7 while here it was set at 12, what is the correct ignition timing?

That info is on the bottom side of the hood. 15 BTDC +- 2. This is with the 'lil service connector jumped with a paper clip, passenger side rear of the engine bay, at the top with a yellow cap on it. If I were you I'd set it to 7 to pass smog then put it back or just leave it there
