Default Wiring Question

Throwing a system into my car.

-Alpine 9886 Head unit
-Alpine 4-channel Amp
-Phoenix Gold Mono Amp
-Focal KR2's (front)
-Infinity Kappa's (rear)
-Rockford Fosgate 12" T1
-Fiberglass box
-Street wires

I have done plenty of budget systems for friends but I have never installed amplified speakers before.

How do you wire up the speakers amplifier and head unit?

Do i just run RCA cables from the head unit to the 4-channel amplifier and then run speaker wire from the amplifier to the cross over, and then cross over to the speakers?

If this is the case, do I loose the ability to adjust the fade and balance?

Should I even both hooking up the speaker wires to the back of the deck?

Can I attach RCA cables from the out on my sub amplifier to the in on my 4 channel rather than running it from the deck to the individual amplifiers?

I would like to hear some opinions that will yield the best clarity. I will be running about 85 continuous watts at 8 ohms to the speakers, and 600 continuous the the sub.

Thanks in advance

You shouldn't loose any fade or balance control if you use the Alpine amp for the speakers and the phoenix gold for the sub.

you can go to crutchfield's site(www.crutchfield.com/learn) to learn more about the installation.

There are a lot of sites out there that will help. The one that I use the most is: www.the12volt.com

You will only need to hook up, 12v constant, 12v ignition, ground, Remote (to amplifiers) and the illumination wire (if used) to your head unit. You will need three sets of RCA's (Front, Rear and Sub) to go to your amps, along with the power/ground/remote wires.. Then you will want to run speaker wires directly to each speaker. You will still keep balance/fade as long as you hook up the RCA's correctly.

Do NOT use the RCA Output from your sub amp...

When running the rca's and the power, your gonna wanna make sure to run power down one side (which ever is closest to the battery), and the rca's down the opposite side. This will help eliminate the chances of interferance with your sound.

What some people do is just run new amp wires directly to the rear speakers, and then wires to from the amp to the front and the car to the oem speaker wires.

When i installed my amps i used 12 guage wire direct to all of the speakers. The front can be a little difficult but it is very do able in a hour or two. I reccomend removing the fenders.

85w is not a whole lot, and the factory speaker wire will be able to handle this, remember, it's AC not DC, thank you Tesla. there are several ways to do this but typically i bench prep everything and run RCAs and 4ch Speaker wire to the head unit area, using the factory wiring to goto the speakers. in our cars you can run from the amp to rears, and then go factory from the head area to the front doors. it's all personal preference. anything more than 100-120w RMS it when i go straight to the speakers. also...if your crossovers are going in the door, make sure to seal them in something as water damage can destroy a crossover.

also...what alpine amp are you running?? it won't be an 8ohm load, or shouldn't if wired correctly.
