Ditto the above.^^^

Also, MM&Y of car, make and model of HU?

How many amps do you have, sub amp only, or something for the high-pass speakers also? 94

If you have 2 amps and one sub then im guessing the other amp might be for your speakers........do you have any RCAs running out of the pre-outs of your radio. Do you have a digital multimeter. You can try checking for Ohm load which should read some where in the neighbor hood of 4 ohms. Or if you have 12v battery try popping the speaker by using the Negative and Positive wire of the speaker your testing and tapping the wire to the battery negative and positive. Usually since its an aftermarket radio the front right speaker should be grey-grey/black wire and front left is white-white/black wire ............

One amp for the sub, what is the other amp connected to, front, rear or both sets of speakers?

What is the model of the amp and the Alpine HU?
What is the make and model of the front speakers?

If your front speakers are "amped" and were "noisy" before, it could be the RCAs were lose and have come compleatly disconnected when you pulled the HU to fix the wiring 94
