Default engine and tranny type

i have a 94 honda civic 4 door. i dont know what type of motor i have and the tranny either can i tell from the vin a plaque on the motor or can someone let me know going on that the motor and tranny havent been switched out. thanks

All I know is that it can be a D16z6 if its an EX model. Does it say VTEC on the valve cover of the d16?
