Default My own ac wireup..

So because the wiring and circuit boards are so bad in the 4th gen prelude . My ac turns on no prob, but when I turn it off. it likes to just kick on by itself. So im gunna wire up a switch for the compressor. Then i can turn it off when i need to and not have to worry about it weighing me down when i dont want it on. (night time).

So my question here is will it be okay to just but a kill switch if you wanna call it on the compressor. And If the ac does turn on the fans will turn on but not the compressor. I just wanted to make sure you can do this without messing up the A/C . I thought it would work fine.

Thanks let me know.

You sure have a lot of A/C problems lol. You could wire a regular switch to turn the compressor off. However I would not wire it to come on all the time. The compressor is controlled by a number of things, most importantly the a/c thermostat. It's role is to keep things at the right temperature. If the compressor runs all the time it could freeze the system.

You could hard wire a switch to the compressor clutch if you wanted to. But yeah these A/C systems are cycling clutch style. So, with your switch you would have to manually cycle the compressor or it will freeze the evaporator... But why not try replacing the stock A/C on/off switch?

Yah i know this ac is pretty much brand new all the way around lmao. But Yah its not the button ! This is my 3rd climate control . Its the wires that plug into it.... And theres soo many wires coming out of it im not sure whats, what. But yah i wouldnt have the ac on all the time. actually the point is to have it off more often sence it clicks on when I DONT want it to. Like if i have the ac button off it will click on for like 3 mins and click off and wait 3 mins and click on... Dont want this because its gunna kill my compressor clutch. So what im gunna do is plug a switch from where you plug into the car harness from the compressor plug in. I dont wanna splice wires just yet just incase i can fix it some other day, but no time now. I just need to find some connectors somewhere that match up with those on the compressor. Sorry if all this is kinda mashed up and not making total sense. Thanks for reading all this ! Does this sound okay to do?

Honestly speaking Honda designed the compressor to click on and off frequently, it is normal operation. Every Honda I owned has had the same characteristics when it comes to controlling the A/C. But if it gets on your nerves, you could add a switch to disable the compressor from coming on.

It would take some work to get it right. I would get a map of the ECU pinouts (from service manual electrical section), find the ground output for the A/C compressor. Then add a simple switch on that ecu output wire. You would have to run some extension wires to the dash where you could reach the switch easily.
