Default T1 cam trigger and ls1 coils on a Honda??

A buddy of mine who has been building pretty bad *** cars for quite some time did a built turbo lsvtec setup and he used the t1 trigger kit and fabbed up a bracket and used ls1 coils..
I know the t1 kit comes with Honda cbr coils . Would there be any advantages or disadvantages going with the ls1 coils over cbr coils???
Thanks

CBR coils use screw-top plugs so limited number of plugs to choose from.

LS1 coils take up more space compared to the CBR.

I'm tucking the wire harness and I'm trying to keep the bay as clean as possible. I've seen the cbr coils fit under the plugwire cover. And my buddy who did the ls1 setup had to make a custom bracket for the coils.. I'd like to go with cbr coils but wasn't sure if there were any advantages of running them besides the space..

Thanks for the info on the plugs!

Wow that T1 kit is $500+ just for a hall effect sensor, bracket and drilled came gear with a magnet in it. You still need a stand alone ECU(if you want individual coils), and then the coils on top of that. I would look into the AEM Engine Position Module, may save you a few hundred vs that T1 kit.

What type of ignition control are you looking at going with? AEM EMS????

Yup looking at the aem ems. The guy my friend built the car was stolen and later recovered. The ems and ignition setup were still on the car. I'm assuming that the thieves didn't know what it was as they only took turbo related parts..
Anyway I can get the ems and complete ignition for 1200.00 so I'm thinking of picking this up for my project Si.

$1200 not bad for an AEM and complete DIS.

Have you ever looked into using a MegaSquirtIII setup?

Run you about half that price for all new components.

Never looked at or heard of the megasquirt setup.. I had hondata s300 on my 230whp b20vtec coupe and I have Neptune on my itr swapped jrsc db8. I liked both setups but I really Want to do a distributor less ignition.

Nice GhostAccord! The grommets make it look like they were meant to be there.

DIYAutotune has MS2 units that plug directly into the Honda harness; though I'm not sure how they compare to the stock Honda ECU.
