449whp pump gas 6262 D16 inside
Put the car on the dyno last saturday. it was a relatively cool day (phew) and the car far surpassed my wildest expectations.
baseline was a street tune i did on 16psi, it put down 380whp. after an hours worth of tuning and 5 bags of ice in the water to air reservoir i wound up at 449.3whp @ 8700rpm on 20psi. 94 (R+M)/2 octane Chevron. no water meth/nitrous/etc.
the setup is fairly simple, heres a quick run down. (almost all the parts that i didnt make myself came from www.go-autoworks.com)
big thanks to my good friend Darin who gave me a shop to work in and helped build about half of this car!!
SRP forged pistons, Eagle rods
Z6 head ported by me
Z6 Tri-Flow Colt Cams prototype race grind (www.coltcams.com)
frozenboost water to air core with a bilge pump, and an RTfab reservoir.
Homemade front mount 1.5" SCH40 mild steel turbo manifold
Edelbrock Performer X IM
3" charge piping
PTE 6262 journal bearing, ported S cover, .82 AR T3 hotside (2.5" v-band)
Walbro 255 stock wiring and fuel lines
Precision low imp 788cc injectors
3" exhaust
Stock sleeves/A6 block
heres the dyno plot. shes breathing like a champ up to 9000rpm. i didnt take it any higher as i was afraid. this would not be possible without the bad *** Colt cam. and i gotta credit myself a little for the port work on the head.
ty to 1.5slowmatic for offering pointers on the head.

needs 24.5's and a cage. these 23s just spin now...

heres a vid of the last time i had her at the track, this was on the 16psi street tune. even spinning 1st really bad here... (this was an 11.2 pass)

dont bother my friend made 480whp right before me on 75mm vitaras.
plans for my car are to get the cage/tires and tune it on C16. original goal was for 500whp w/o nitrous but i think i might be able to do 600whp on turbo only. shooting for a 9. doubtful ill get it this year, maybe for 2011. just no money left to play with.

How does that turbo do on the street? This is the turbo I was thinking about upgrading to in a couple months. Looks a tad bit laggy but not that bad. Sounds awesome in that video. Didnt fall out of boost. I just love this turbo!
thanks dave. its about time i got a setup that co-operated with me.
right on john. cant wait to see yours running.
no bar, im going cage. no sense in wasting my time. if i need to wait till next year, i will.
haha says the guy who was there when it was on the dyno :p
yeah ian its not too bad at all. i think if i played with where VTEC is engaging i could get it up to 20psi by 6100rpm again. i upped VTEC a bit too much, its at 5700rpm right now.
i wouldnt want to use this for a street setup. it would be just as easy to get 275ftlb of tq out of a smaller turbo, maybe a disco potato and have a way faster spooling setup.
it doesnt fall out of boost at all between shifts but that has a lot to do with the driver. if i didnt shift as quick it would fall out of boost, and has.
thanks. i tried to stick with mostly proven parts. the only real wild card was the colt cam, which turned out beautifully.
im actually really disappointed by the 11.2 ET. the car was running 10 second 1/8th mile times (tuning and shake down passes) but it spun like mad when i went all out on 16psi. i cant wait to run it at 20psi/450whp and see what she does. hopefully she will bite. ill do a bad *** burnout and see if it helps. haha

It looks like it spools like the t3/t67 h.o. .82 a/r I had a few years back on stock gsr. Was hitting 12psi by 5200-5300rpm which was 400whp. If it spools close to that then I may get it. I currently have a Precision sc34 .48 a/r and it spools crazy fast which is fun but I like it better when it hits a little later but WAY harder/nastier. Guess its just personal preference. I would keep the sc34 but its going to max out way before I want it to. Looking for 550-600whp eventually.
i put the BOV before the intercooler for a few reasons. first off, because its closer to the compressor, so it can let air out as quick as possible to help the compressor keep spinning. second, so the hot air can exit before the intercooler so it doesnt have to do extra work for nothing, and 3rd for space.
got another video up of the car going down the track.
this pass had to be kept above 14 seconds, no helmet, plus i have a passenger.
i took the opportunity to listen for knock on this pass.
