Icon2 Accord 2002 SE automatic to manual transmission

Hi. I'm trying to find out if it's possible for Honda to convert the transmission in a 2002 Accord SE v6 from automatic to manual?

Awesome! Well I recently bought this car from my parents, but I want a manual transmission. So would I have to do an engine swap for the manual transmission to work? Or would Honda mechanics for example be able to do this? I don't have the skills nor the equipment as yet to do an engine swap, etc...

Give it to a good shop to do it for you if you don't have the tools to do it yourself. You won't need to swap the engine, unless you want the raw power of the J32/35's.

You're looking to spend about 3 grand to do the swap. Just collect parts time by time if you don't have all the cash.

If you want the 6 speed transmission. Go with the TL-S or CL-S that comes with OEM LSD.

Ok good to know... Do you know of website or something that has a list of parts that would be necessary, along with the type of manual transmissions that will work with 2002 SE. Also, I'm not too familiar with the acronyms yet: Go with the TL-S or CL-S that comes with OEM LSD. --> not sure TL, CL or LSD mean. Thanks again!!

TL and CL are models from Acura. LSD = limited slip diff. And I wasn't aware that the SE came with a v6. For a list of parts, look in the Accord FAQ. There's a writeup for a 4 cyl auto to stick swap, which for the most part, will be the same as for a v6.

I thought so. I was checking with the Honda dealership to see if they sold a V6 SE in stick. I don't think they did for '02s.

I will check the info and make some calls..

go VTEC!

TL-S = 2004-Present Acura TL Type S. From what I'm aware of the 1st gen TL never came in Manual Trans.

CL-S = All the V6 Acura CL Type S.

LSD = Limited Slip Differential. Better transmission, Better Take Off as in 2 wheel spinning instead of 1.

OEM = Original equipment manufacturer.

Meaning OEM LSD = LSD that was built with the original transmission.

6th gen accords that are V6 never came in Manual Trans. People who has V6 and are manual trans did the Auto->Manual.

From what I know, 98-02 Accords were never offered as v6 sticks, only automatics. I also know that Special Editions were only offered in 4 cyl. Are you sure you have an SE and a v6? Something doesn't seem right here.

I am 100% sure it's a V6.. I can count the cylinders easily on the block.. and on my registration its an SE. My parents originally bought it so I'm certain on the story.

When you say J30 and F23 you mean engine models?

(I apologize for sounding like such a newbie, but it's my first car.. I only know about doing car audio stuff)

Okay. Atleast you got the good infos out of the way. Well, you could check around this section of the forum or you can check out J32a.com for some goodies also.

Ask some people here that has done the Auto->Manual swap for the V6. They should give you some good infos.
