Oil pan gasket leak

Default Oil pan gasket leak

ok i have just replace the oil pan gasket and put gasket seal around it and it still leaking from one spot. the leak is coming from one bolt, what can i put to stop the leaking? with out taking the oil pan off again.

unfortunately there isnt really anything you can do. that bolt may be overtightened or the pan may be bent in that area. pulling the pan is going to be your best bet.

but i just took the pan off and redid it. i think the pan might be bad

I think it's best NOT to use gasket sealant over the entire length of the pan because this increases the chance of the gasket slipping and tearing while tightening the nuts and bolts. Only use the sealant in the curved areas specified in the service manual.

It is also very important to tighten the nuts and bolts in the proper sequence pattern in several passes and to torque them to spec.
