my GF is looking at getting a 4th gen lude, i know there is a way to tell if it's got the H22, F22, or H23 b which wheels it has, but since i own a 5th gen, i am unsure how to tell (
) can someone please give me some pics of what the stock wheels for each model are? i would appreciate it....
this is the one she is looking at, it says it's and Si, but i saw a pic of one claiming to be the VTEC model with the same wheels.

Those are Si, and Vtec rims 94-96(Same). The S has the hubcap 14's.
The Si and Vtec are almost identical,Bigger front rotors for the vtec and 94-96 Vtec had leather 93 was a option(Si's never had leather as a option, except the 95 SE)Both came with a OEM spolier .
Thats all I can think of at the time

4th gen si's and vtec's had the same rims. the difference in the 4th gens in the years. 94-96 has the rims like the one you posted, vtec's and some si's came with leather interior, these years also had the "electroluminicent" dash (looks like reverse indiglo) and a better (imo) designed center console, e-brake placement, and back seat. 92-93 came with cloth seats, regular lighted dash, much heavier stock rims that have a different design. The best years for the 4th gen is 94-95 because for the 94+ upgrades and they are obd1, in 96 preludes went to obd2.

if she got one, i'd actually prefer she got an OBD2 car.... sounds dumb i know, but since i have a 97, i am a bit more familar to the working of the OBD2 Preludes. anyways guys, thanks for the info, i think we are going to go try and take a look at that thing on Monday. i'll keep you posted on the stauts....
BTW, i did a carfax report on the car, and everything checked out A-OK

YOYOYO,
i dont know if the other engines do or not, but the H22A says H22A right on it. I saw it under my hood today when i put on my intake so i am sure.
If u look at the engine, u should find out pretty quick, people can switch rims and paint cars you know.
If u cant see it in person maybe u should ask for a picture.

HEY DIPSHIT!!!!!! perhaps if you had read the post or clicked on the link you would have seen that the pic on autotrader is the only thing i have to go buy....... BTW you forgot the following to tell the difference:
the valve cover says DOHC VTEC if it's a VTEC, if not, it only says Honda
H22s have plug wire cover
VTEC solenoid
H22 have an air bypass on the intake manifold
Pretty sure the H23 does not have an external ignition coil, the H22 does
i could go on and on and on, but i think i made my point

it's simple, just look at the VIN number.
93-96 VTEC ludes - BB1
92-96 SI ludes - BB2
92-96 S ludes - BA9 (not sure on this one, but who cares, you don't wan't it anyway)
also, VTEC preludes only came in red, black and green.
and it will say VTEC underneath the Prelude emblem.
other differences are the size of front brake rotors (rear are all the same), wheels,
gauges, center consoles, etc.

i have a 4th gen VTECH and all techs come in leather, outside myabe the rear break light in the back window...not shure...nobody can tell its a vtec until i pass them =]
personally i like the 93 console and dash better, but then again im biased. to the guy that said you can paint a car and switch rims...well you can swap engines also. i dont think his question was about what kind of engine is in it now, im sure he knows how to tell since his **** is being built like hell right now, just like mine is. i think he wanted to know what it was origanly.
strait from helms:bb1=vtec, bb2=si, ba8=s
if you need anything else let me know, i just got my big *** helms and ill be more then happy to use it.
so what ever happened w/the fact that the aem bypass caused the valves to break? you ever bitch them out...didnt think i remembered huh, i remember from hp.com, i was badass420 on there, if you remember i bent my valves basically the same day you broke yours.

btw-you DONT want obdII, all the stuff that would work on it, will work on obdI, well that being the stuff you have to do since a lot wasn't implimented yet, plus it dosen't learn about mods like obdII does.

Wrong, 1993, no leather...
Wrong, 1993, no leather...
In 93 you're screwed, because back then (and correct me if I'm wrong) it was called the Si VTEC. They basically had everything the same except the motor. The dash, seats etc were all the same. (It might have had the 7th speaker in the back, but that doesn't matter) As far as physical looks, it really was almost identical.
94-96 from the outside there really aren't that many ways to tell.
#1. The VTEC doesn't have the third brake light in the rear window. Just like what many have said before.
#2. It has a VTEC sticker.

#3. The VTEC only came in black, azure blue/green pearl, and red.
#4. Your mothers panties come standard in the backseat of all VTEC models.
#5. The dash is electroilluminescent.
#6. Redline, redline, redline....
#7. Extra speaker (the ***** sub) in between the back seats.
#8. Leather.
Although the SE and VTEC share many of the same interior features like the dash, and leather, they only came in green (rare), and champagne, they had different wheels than any other lude, and had the H23A.

it's a work in progress.... my block got back from GE today, as well as getting my pistons back, and getting new Eagle rods, and a Prodrive oil gear
you are basically right...
it had the ***** sub, bigger roters up front, i like the standard dash better, and some hot model type sales womans panties came in the front seat, well she left them there, there was no room in the back, just lay the passenger seat all the way back.
