Do people steal Preludes?
Ok, my issue is that I have a Del sol Si and about once a week the hood is either popped or some goofy goons from down the street are eyeballing it. I know I can kill-switch it, make an alarm, lo-jack, etc., but, in the end, owning a car is supposed to be pleasurable and I don't enjoy the crooked eyes from all the lowlifes making off with Civics/Del sols/Integras. So, I am considering trading it for a Prelude so I don't have to worry about it anymore.
Question is, am I thinking in the right direction? If I were to have a Prelude, what are the chances that some scumbag would eventually try to make off with that? I just don't want all the negative attention or worries anymore.

Someone popped my hood the other night and disconnected my battery. Didn't get in the car or anything though. My car is mostly stock too. But it's a lot less risky compared to civics/integras. Scumbags will always be scumbags my friend.
I have a 5th gen btw

True... The problem is that where I live, by coincidence, two of the other apartments have EG Civics. One is a mint hatch... Parked next to my car, they tend to draw a lot of unsavory attention.
Personally, I think if you shoot someone trying to steal your car, you should be given a frickin metal.

my friends 94 prelude got stolen last week and when he got it back it had no rims, radio, and they jacked his ipod. The worst part about it was they left it on the ground no jacks or nothing.
almost sounds like a different kind of theft though. Instead of boning engines and swaps and burning the car like we normally see, they steal the stereo and rims? That's kind of... ghetto.
Most people who have Prelude's just put rims and nice stereo's in them. They already have a decent motor. And most people who own Prelude's are older people or rich kids who don't know **** about cars, so all they do is throw 18's, and 5 20" subs in there and call it a day.. especially 5th gen preludes. I've seen some sick 4th gen's in here, but it's not very common.

I like keeping my Prelude as "sleeper" looking as possible on the outside, but I'm still paranoid as hell and I'm going to upgrade my entire alarm setup to something A LOT more sophisticated. Never had any break-ins or attempts, and I travel almost daily to the University of Central Florida, where a huge amount of Honda break-ins occur. However, as someone else said, it's mostly for audio and entertainment equipment. Unless they want a cassette radio, my car's pretty boring.
People don't steal them. Nothing from a Prelude is a bolt-on upgrade for an EG or EF which is what most thieves drive, even the engine needs mount kit, axles, ect, ect.
So...yeah.

You also have to consider you live in one of the most crime infested cities in the country...
Yeah, like said already, a prelude generally doesn't disappear from where you left it. Prelude parts aren't like Civic/Integra parts-- they take longer than a couple of hours to sell, and the longer you have a stolen part, the more risk of getting caught with it.

preludes are one of a kind. noone wants one. if someone does its another shady luder. i put stickers all over my car with my name on it. call me ricer but hey if its not me thats driving it ppl will talk. civs and teggies are main bait, so expect those to get stolen more than our ludes. those are dime a dozen
It's the truth. I can offer no counterargument. This place is full of scumbags, crooked cops, terrible roads, terrible weather, terrible taxes, and terrible pollution. If I drive 15 miles south or east, it's terrible rednecks that think I'm a ricer for driving a semi-stock car.

Idk I've had two attempted thefts on my 4th gen lude and I live in one of the nicer parts of oklahoma.. It's just a stock h23 but it's dumped with a lip kit. Hmmm.. But yes, preludes are definitely less **** to being stolen compared to civics and integras.
I've had my 4th gen stolen twice in the last year so it does happen, fortunately it was recovered both times. I guess it really depends on what the thief is looking for. The first time it was stolen they jacked it for the speakers, even the 6 inchers i had in the rear. The second time was by some crackhead who needed a car to get around. He was actually considering keeping it and started modifying it like it was his by putting in an intake, stereo, and speakers. And of course spray painting it so it wouldn't be noticed.
I'll have to say though the first person that stole it knew it very well as no wires were cut nor did they jack up the ignition switch. I did, however, find one of the main harnesses unplugged from the fuse box after it was recovered. It seemed to me that he had his own harness and jump started it that way.

No attempt has ever been made on my car, and I spent 4 years living in two different ghettos. However, my brother's 95 Teg base model was stolen just last year. It wasn't even a shell when they found it 3 days later in Little Mexico.
