Trunk replacement for 02 civic lx
I'm thinking about replacing my trunk, but before i do, i need to find out what all needs to be done. More specifically, how does the lock work, does it just slide out & into the new one?
Yes. The bigger issues will be getting all the rods connected correctly and getting it lined up right. Also, the last time I put an OEM spoiler on a Civic, I seem to remember needing a special tool to get the new, heavier, trunk springs connected. Probably would be the same with a swap.
Why are you thinking of doing this?

If all you're doing is swapping trunk lids, you don't need to remove the torsion bars. Just disconnect the lever cable from the lock assembly. Disconnect the wire looms from the license plate lights and trunk-open indicator on the lock and remove them from the lid. Remove the latch/lock assembly, then finally unbolt the lid from the arms and attach the new one. Then swap the license plate lights and reconnect everything on the new lid.
However, some people have complained about how fast the trunk "flings" open after installing a CF trunk lid. They ended up removing their torsion bars.

mine already does that. i bought it with what i thought was a stock spoiler on it, looks damn near identical. but it doesnt have those extra strength springs or whatever, there really loose. so im already kind of used to this
