Default transmission/clutch question

So i have a eg hatch Z6 & Cx transmission combo (the car is a Cx). The transmission has 250k miles on it & has recently started making a chattering/whining noise but when i push the clutch in it goes away. So im thinking its the input shaft bearing?(please correct me if im wrong). Im planing on getting a used EX/SI transmission, anything i should look out for? & is there anything i should replace on the trans while its out? I'm going to replace the clutch while the transmission is out . What is a good clutch that isnt going to break the bank? ( im only 17 & not much income)

-sorry for the long post just need to kno this. thanks for the help everyone!

Default Re: transmission/clutch question

Even if that CX tranny has no mechanical problems I would swap it out for a Z6/Y8 tranny for the proper gear ratios.

I would replace the rear main oil seal, cheap and not too hard to do. I'm sure the new clutch will come with a pilot and release bearing, replace them too. Get the flywheel resurfaced as well, that's really important. Also consider new input shaft oils seals, those are cheap and easy.

I recommend an Exedy OE replacement clutch for what you are doing. I found one for my B16A on Ebay for $127 shipped to my door.
