Clutch installation problem. $10 Paypal'd to whoever pinpoints it!
Sup all
Here's what happened, I installed a 6G EX transmission with a Stage 3 XTD clutch disc and a resurfaced flywheel. I reused my old pressure plate. I wanted to use the XTD pressure plate but it wouldn't fit on the flywheel for some reason. None of the holes would line up.
Anyways, we bled the line then turned it on, but it made a disgusting clunking sound very similar to a spun rod bearing. As soon as I let go of the clutch it would go away and it would only make a slight winding noise as if a belt was loose.
Also, it would go into gear and out of gear with no problem at all. But it wont spin the wheels. It did spin em for a cool minute and the MPH was working, but then it stopped.
So what is it?

^When did you become a MOD?
And dude, you mess up the TOB? If it grinds when the clutch is in, you may have incorrectly put the Throw out bearing in.
And for the wheels, check your axles.

To me it sounds like the material on the clutch would grab the material on the flywheel, hence the reason it would turn the wheels. That might have been the reason that it made the grinding noise.
Whats the clutch made out of? Kevlar?
Or the clutch didnt fully engage.

are u sure u didnt damage the splines along with the installation? i would take it apart and start all over again. somethings wrong and to fix it you would have to do this anyway. inspeact everything u may figure it out maybe give us some pics to work with.
/\ give this man yur money. there's no choice that yur gonna have to take it
apart regardless what it is, and it will show you your problem instead of
guessing what it is. apexi rsx, he's gonna need your paypal address

well if the pressure plate wouldn't fit maybe the disk is wrong also ! are you sure you put the disk on it the right direction ? did you have the fly wheel turned for the 6g trans ? year and drivetrain would also help

i think i win... there is no way around it something was installed incorrectly. but could very well be the clutch disk is in backwards. would have made that sound when it was rubbing pressure fins. when u llet the clutch out and it retract it would have went away. opposite of what a throw out bearing would do when it goes bad.
The splines on the axles could be rubbing against the splines in the diff if the axles aren't in all the way. It's not unheard of to think you have the axles in, just to have them pop out when you lower the car or first fire it up.
But yeah, if it's not that, you'll have to take it apart. That's obvious. Not everyone has room to just tear something apart again and let it sit while waiting on parts. Sometimes trying to figure out what's wrong first is better.
