Icon2 Engine Swap

Would this engine fit in my 97 Civic Coupe DX? http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30009
And would it be a good engine to put in, like bang for my buck, or do you think i should get a b16 or something. I know nothing about engine swaps lol anything helps thanks.

Yeah, that is great swap, and bang for buck. You need to get motor mounts though. Hasport sells them. Also, try to install the swap yourself. It will save you tons.

lsd (limited slip differential) it means the other tire will start applying power if its senses the drive wheel is slipping. Yes def worth it. Im sure there r a ton of people around u that would help you with the swap for next to nothing. Its really easy to perform

Yeah I agree definitely spend the extra $350 for the LSD transmission. Trust me it will be well worth it

Those mounts are for installing on an Intergra. Not a Civic. They mount of differently. You need to get EJ6 to B18C Hasport motor mounts I'm pretty sure. Someone correct me if wrong..

yes, singlecamslamed is right.

You will need a driver side mount and rear T-bracket from a 99-00 Civic Si. When you order the swap ask steve if there is a possibility of switching out the mounts for you, never hurts to ask. He's going to ask you what car you're putting it in anyway, and he would tell you that you would need different mounts than what normally comes with it.

YOu might i have to change timing belt and water pump. The mount might be expensive depend which one you're buying. I wouldn't buy cheap mount.. Yes you can buy the mount at hasport. It not cheap but i heard it good.

sorry for the n00bness, but what about f series into eg?? I know it's for an s2000 rwd but is there a way for fwd?? And I would save my money and get a good lsd.. $350 doesn't seem reliable enough and I've heard bad things.

You have to do a lot of modding to fit the f into an eg. Some drag eg's do it, but they have ton's of fabricating done anyways. Just stick with h/b/k series.

to hmotorsonline. That's where i got my b16a swap. It's a bit pricey but then you get a strong motor, guaranteed to start up and have working sensors and a reliable swap. Many a friends went the ebay route and heard horror stories...

Might as well buy an S2000 of you want that motor ,it would be MUCH cheaper than a swap into yours

I've seen some good deals on s2000s' lately

what do you mean $350 doesn't seem reliable enough?

the$350 LSD option in the engine you first posted would be an addition to the S80 or Y80 transmission included with the engine

LSD was a HONDA factory upgrade to the transmission

The LSD itself is NOT a transmission it's a transmission UPGRADE

B18C:

S80/Y80 (Optional LSD)

The transmission found in JDM GSR's is very popular and overall an excellent transmission. For all motor and boost applications this transmission has excellent gearing and a stronger differential compared to its B16A and B18B counterparts. The transmissions with LSD should have "LSD" stamped on the casing.

I understand it's part of the transaxle, but from what I've read (and sorry but it hasn't been much) a cheap lsd isn't a smart buy. but to each their own. I personally plan on saving up the money and rebuilding the entire tranny with a good, reliable helical lsd. But please, if anyone has more info for me and everyone else, tell me!! lol

Nothing is more reliable than stock parts and when u tell the importer u want a tranny equipped with a lsd ul b buying a tranny that haa a HONDA helical lsd. In other words whomever bought this car (which has the tranny and motor ur buying now) when it was new checked the lil option box that was next to lsd.....meaning it was an original factory option.

That's what I thought. So it's not a "cheap $350 LSD". It's how much HMO charges if you want a tranny that was equipped with LSD from the dealership.

Exactly, but not to say theyv never sold a tranny with a aftermarket lsd previously installed as that $350 option.

Yeah I wouldn't say the factory honda lsd tranny is weak or cheap by any means. It is plenty strong enough to hold the numbers this guy is probably going to be making with his gsr swap.
