Default Having issues with vtec

last night I was driving home vtec was working fine, come out in the morning warm up my car and take off to work and when i was merging on to the freeway my vtec wouldn't cross over, I checked the codes and its code 2,7,23 I know 23 is knock sensor. i checked my oil level and its a quart low so i must be burning oil so i added oil and reset the ecu and went for a test drive still no vtec so I was thinking and disconnected my gauge cluster drove it again and the vtec works! I know I have a electronic speed sensor, and its wired to work with that gauge cluster, any ideas? how to fix it? i currently have a jdm B16a with a jdm y1 trans with a kazzz lsd. is there something i can do i dont have rpm on my cluster just mph and that doesn't even work! i been using my garmen gps for mph lol. but any ideas? thanks in advance.
