if i change the head on my engine do i have to go get it cleaned or can i just bolt it right on ?

clean what? i would get the head gasket cleaned off and check the head for warpage if thats what you mean

take it to get resurfaced or if your baller status use a razor blade and scrape off the old headgasket if applicable...!!!

its only about $15-20 to get it resurfaced and checked from most little machine shops...!!!

Makes sure that the mating surface is nice and straight. Insures a nice seal.

does it matter if the heads are different ? like the y7 the spark plugs are low and the regular 88-91 sohc spark plugs are up

it doesnt matter cause your swapping the whole head. now if your just swapping the valve cover then youll have a problem

If you are putting a used and unfamiliar head on, having the head resurfaced means a clean swipe if the metal underside to it is both clean and straight...this ensures no head gasket sealing issues and makes for a proper installation

if you have an a6 now then the dizzy i believe should bolt up perfectly. i know it does on the y8 head anyway.

no i was gonna get a a6 from some guy on H-t but i haven't gotten any word , i have a b1 at the moment , yes there a way that you can check if the head is in good condition ?
