Default Tech Question: Head Milling info required

Hey guy's,

I recently took the head back off the Z6 again (blew it the summer, rebuilt it again and the HG diden't seal). I'm going to get the head milled to reduce any warpage or surface imperfections before I pop that puppy on again.

Its a Y8 head, I had Arias pistons and comp is 8.5:1. I want to take the bare essential off the head. How many thou should I consider?

So I yanked the head, I checked the cylinder bores and all is good. There was some minor scaring evident from when I blew the motor (had it rebored and honed though for my new pistons), but no cracks. The HG appread blown in cyl 1.

So I'll mill the head, use a copper spray application on the new HG and giver'er!

When you take the head into the machine shop, they should be able to tell you if it needs to be milled. Also in a forced induced application, try to have as little taken of the head as possible because it will increase your compression. What kind of gasket are you using? Good luck. Its nice to know that somebody from atlantic Canada comes on this forum as well.

Is that you Bruce from HipeMS? http://www.nfimports.net here. Sorry I never got to the track when you were down the summer but I was out of town, plus I had to many problems. I'm hoping this year to put down some good hp numbers.

My comp now is 8.5:1 so I have a little to spare. Wether the head is warped or not I'm going to get the surface milled just to clean it up a little. When I previously blew my motor I never even checked the damn thing (doh) and put it back on.

Its only $50.00 to get it milled.

I'm going to be using the stock metal honda HG with a copper spray application.

Hopfully things will all come together this time.

Nope this is Usaf, his partner. We put copper spray on every Oem headgasket and have not blown one yet.
