I have a 2001 Accord LX 2.3L. Milage is 175K. For the past 3 yrs or so, the throttle has been sticky. Found black gunk on the throttle body, after cleaning, it'll be good for awhile (10-20k miles), then comes back. Recently in Feb 2010, got a check engine with engine stall at RPM 4k. Code shows VTEC solenoid. After some research, it was due to low oil. Refilled oil, everything ok. Oil change in March. Issue came back again last month for CEL and low oil. I've noticed MPG hasn't been great anymore either.

-Am I burning oil? I don't see oil leaks in my drive way?
-Do I need a valve adjustment?
-Is something clogged?

 

Replace the vtec solenoid and keep up on the oil changes, dirty oil will destroy the solenoid.

BTW: This will cure your mpg issue as well.

 

i'm not sure the vtec solenoid is the problem though... it runs on oil pressure, and because pressure was low from low oil levels, it threw the CEL. i don't know what is consumming oil at this point.

 

How do you have vtec?

Have you taken a look at the PCV valve yet? If its plugged up it can cause oil consumption problems. Checked underneath for oil leaks yet? (note that sometimes the oil will leak over the exhaust and burn off so you wont see oil in the driveway)
