Default Quick Q about speakers/wiring..?

Sorry, I don't know too much about audio stuff, so your assistance is appreciated...

?...will a low conductor count or poor quality wiring affect a speakers performance and make it sound like it's blown/distorted?

Here's why:
in my HB I have only two front speakers(~6" or so)and it seems like any speaker I throw in there sounds blown out...I have noticed that the wires are aluminum like in color and seems the stranding is minimal, would this scenario distort my sound?

Thanks all
MK

I just did aa repair for a customer of mine with the same problem, he tried to istall the speakers himself and left a bare wire, this wire came in contact with the metal behind the speaker and blew the out put on the radio. You may not have blown the out put yet but check all of the wiring, a shorted wire will make the speaker sound blown because it shorts across the output transisor from ground.

Thanks guys, it all makes sence (or atleast better sence) now. I'm going to re-wire the speakers with some better quality copper 16 or 14g, not that aluminum filled garbage that sits there now, and by theory, that should solve the issue.

Thanks again....
