Default Repairing Rust Spots

Sorry i dont have pics, but, what is the best way to attack a rust spot that has eaten through the metal?

I have a spot of my rear quarter panel that has about a dime-sized hole due to rust. I do not have access to a welder, so what could i do to fill/cover this?

well, you can do it and you can do it right. to do it, try your luck with bondo. find a way to get some kinda backing on it so it doesnt push through and just sand flat. To do it right, you need to weld a new piece of metal in

bondo does not fix rust in the least bit. it wont last more than a month before it starts to rust again, i can promise you that.

cut the bad out, weld in a patch, seal it from BOTH sides, skim coat for body work, seal again, then paint. Its a lot of hard work, not something an amatuer should attempt.

I was going to grind out the rust, this is only surface rust. Damn i need to take pics of the spots that im talking about.

Either way, im not going to cut out an 1"x1" area.

if ur rust has not made the metal flakey and its just surface rust, you can sand it down and use somethign like "rust mort" to kill what is left in the pores of the metal. follow the directions on the bottle. good luck.
if it has eaten through the metal u will have to cut it out. rust is cancer for cars. if its not 100% gone it will come back worse. Working on cars I never guaranteed no rust, i would say if a dr. can guarantee a person will never get cancer then i will guarantee ur car will never get rust.

ur hosed bro, that needs to be cut out and replaced with new metal... sorry. if u just cover it the body filler will shrink all crack and can just fall through the holes. it will not last unless u do it right.
