Major transmission issues - b16 hydro
okay so I have a B20 w/ B16 hydro (y21) trans. did the swap a little over a month ago and went flawless into my DC. about a week or so ago I notice that anytime the clutch isn't engaged there is a very noticable chirping sound coming from the tranny along with pedal vibration, but thats all no other symptoms, everything worked well other than the sound and vibration at the top of the pedal. The clutch is an ACT stage 2 fullface disk with a lightened and balanced OEM flywheel. I called ACT after noticing the symptoms and together we decided it was probably the throwout bearing (after I tried adjusting the pedal itself with no result). Neither the bearing or adjutment did anything and I was now out 300 dollars as I had a shop do it for me. since then I did the master cylender and the slave myself. Last night i was heading over to a buddys and while driving, grinded second and third a couple times, even though the clutch was depressed all the way it seemed as though the clutch wasn't engaging all the way. it wouldnt come out of gear without extreme pressure applied to the shifter and next to impossible to get into any gear without grinding. on the way home i decided shutting the car off at lights and start in gear was the safest way. But with my foot on the floor and it will creep forward even though my foot is planted on the clutch. This is essentially where i stand and am clueless at this point. many people have ideas but no proof to back anything up. if you have an idea or have had this happen let me know, the car is undrivable at this point as i dont want to further hurt anything more than maybe it has been. any help is appretiated
this could be a pressure plate issue, or a clutch issue. have you been keeping your transmission up to its required service? and you said it was over a month ago that the swap was done? how old is the clutch setup? and did you go by the book when re-bleeding the slave?
I would say:
1) The noise you heard at first with the clutch pedal out could be the input shaft bearing.
2) The clutch problems you describe with trouble getting into gear seems to have happened AFTER the shop did the work... it's possible they might have made a mistake with something.
And no the syptoms were progressive, started as a noise a week or so ago and is now a full blown issue. unable to get in gear almost at all.
i had that issue once but alil more extreme then yours. when i put in my new clutch i couldnt get it into gear and the car would creep forward in nutral. it ended up bein the wrong size disk that never let it disengage fully. ur car might have the wrong clutch setup or a defective one. one way to make sure is to pull the trans off again and send it back to act for inspection to check it. i had to send my back to inspect sizing and they determined i had the wrong disk and it did not let it fully disengae.
