cant decide whether to get an S2K or keep current car, help
I have been thinking it over and over and yet i cant seem to find an answer. I always liked them and now i have the chance on getting one, but in order to do that i would have to sell my current car which i also love.
I currently have a Mint 2000 civic SI with a K swap with very tasteful mods on it, and has a/c. i have spent tons of money on it and i know i will be sad to let it go, but i also know i could use some change and stop worrying about whether it is still out side or not.
If i buy an S2 all i want for it is nice suspension, nice wheels, front lip and hard top and call it a day i wouldnt mind it either being an ap1 or 2; i have been looking around and found some high priced ones and decently priced, still looking though. Would any of you S2 owners or if you have owned one please guide me, how is the car over all, would you buy one now after having owned one and knowing how it drives. Please help, this is my current car now:

i would say, keep the civic, and get the s when you can afford to have both... if thats an option, your civic is too clean to let go.. someone else is just going to be rolling around in something you obviously put alot of heart and passion (not to mention money) into and s2ks arent even that expensive anymore..
well the thing is this car is not garaged and ive had theft attempts before and i dont like having to worry about it, thats my only issue with my current car
ahh, people will try to steal your s2k too.. i could see how your si would be a target though as opposed to a stock looking s2000..

From: TRILLINOIS....WAY downtown, jerky.
It's tough to say. If you have some kind of emotional connection with a car, it's surprisingly hard to break.
However...I will say that I have a 99 Si (B16 still) with some GCs, ITR rear bar, Wheels and tires and bolt ons.
I have a S2000 with KW V3s, Wheels/tires/bolt ons.
I've BARELY driven my Si since like April. Pretty much as soon as the S2000 comes out from the winter hibernation, I don't wanna get out of it. The Si is BORING to drive by comparison.
The Civic chassis also doesn't feel nearly as good as the S2000 chassis does. The S2000 is a blast to drive with stiff springs and dampers. The Si is annoying even with soft springs and dampers. The S2000's chassis is sooooo much nicer.
I also track my S2000. I tracked my Si once. It was fun...but...meh. I like the fact that my S2000 can be driven to the track, then pass up trailered cars, then drive back in A/C comfort or with the top back with music on. Then drive it to the store or hooters or where ever I'm going without having to change a thing (except brake pads).
I love my S2000. I have MORE of an emotional connection with my Si though lol. If I could replace the S2000 with something more awesome, I would. I can't seem to get rid of the Si. So it's weird.
If I had to get rid of one and only have one car...It'd be the S2000 that I'd keep, though. It's WAY too much fun to drive. I never really wanna get out of it. I make up excuses to drive it.
The S2000 will probably meet or exceed almost every aspect of your civic's performance even when it's stock. Meaning you can enjoy and drive it every day without worrying about breaking it or having to fix something that you might have screwed up.
It's nice having a stock car that does high 13 sec. quarter miles, has awesome brakes, turns low lap times, does 106-109ft stopping distances from 60, has an awesome chassis, External reservior dampers, and most importantly RWD.
It also attracts more attention than a civic. A fixed up civic looks nice to the trained eye. EVERYONE gives me compliments on my S2000. Only people who know cars give me compliments on my civic.
If you can get over the emotional thing and the financial hit you're going to take from selling your civic, the S2000 is an awesome car. Something tells me that you'll be pining for your civic after all is said and done, though...

From: Yeah IM from Jersey, big wup, wanna fight about, it, USA
no matter what you do to the civic, its still a civic... granted its pretty badass but the S2k is on a whole new level...
i would wait to have both. i traded my DB8 with a kswap.. a/c, ps, etc for my s2k and i kinda miss it. the s2k is fun and a head turner but it really comes down to your driving style. you def can't drive an s2k like you would a civic/teg.
I mean i dont beat on my current civic, it will pull on a lot of cars on the road, and destroy an s2k with bolt ons but i dont like beating on that car, i might drive an S2 harder than this car now.
I have had 2 B-swapped hatches and an ITR prior to my S2K. I have tracked all 3 of platforms and have had lots of fun doing it. I even enjoy driving them on the streets. In short, i LOVE my FWD hondas. I even considered buying a very built EG hatch instead of my S. However, the idea of not knowing if my car is still there when i came out of the mall (theft) really took the fun away. It got to a point where i can't drive it anywhere so what is the point of owning one? Hence i am where i am today and you know what? The S is fun in MANY more ways. Top down, RWD and honda reliability. Can't ask for more and the best part, i DON'T worry about theft anymore!!
yea thats what i worry about, i cant even go out to the movies or mall in my car because i worry about theft or some one trying to rip something off and mess it up in the process. ive been seeing some decently priced AP1's for 10k with any where between 69-80k miles clean titled is that good
i also get bored at times, some days i love it some days i would want something diff, mostly love though but i like change i go through cars every year and a half or two
I've seen your car and person and the fact that it still has A/C would make me keep it right there. Also I don't know how it is up there but down south a S2K is just as big of a target for theives. Just don't want you to think the S will be safer when the chances of it getting stolen are one in the same.
thats pretty surprising.. s2000 thefts are pretty big in orlando.. well the seats at least. invest in a security (hardtop, seat locks, alarm, killswitch, etc) and you'll be ok.
i traded my teg for that exact reason tho... paranoid about my car getting stolen after dropping all that money into it... and then my hardtop gets stolen.. i was pretty pissed but good thing about the s2000 is it still has value... insurance cut me a check for $4500 (before deductible) and i'm good again with an oem top.
if you're just looking for a car to lightly mod and be strictly a DD then s2k all the way. i used to catch rides with buddies so i wouldn't have to drive my civics/teg cause i'd be worried the whole time i'm out.

How old are you and how long have you have the Civic?
I think you should keep your Civic and enjoy the time and money you invested in it. Getting rid of it will cause you to lose a lot of money, too. You can ALWAYS find an S2000. Getting a car like your Civic is near impossible. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't like Civics. Yours is nice though! Not the usual Civic.

Your coupe will be faster than your S too. My S is way way more comfortable and fun to drive though.
