Default KONI Nuts

I have a 2000 Accord EX 2.3 5 Speed with the following Mods:
K&N Cold air intake
Einbach Pro-sport with 1.2” drop
KONI Yellow Struts
DC Sport Stabalizer bars front and back
Graham Lites 16” with RE11’s
Free-flow Muffler.

My problem is with the KONI struts as the older they get the more noise the make any time I hit the smallest bump. The guy that installed them used the double nut 21mm and I can’t break them loose. I think if I could tighten them up it would eliminate the noise. I can not break the nuts loose. I checked the KONI site but no help,

Anyone know how to crank these down.

What kind of noise(s) are you getting?

Could always be related to something else (or it's around another part of the strut). Only reason I say this is because I don't hear about noise complaints from that part often (at least compared to other parts).

From what I remember the top part needs an allen wrench held on top while you screw and unscrew (that's what she said!). This was a while ago so I can't remember for certain.

The noise is kind of hard to describe but it sounds like there is gap between the strut and the body as the banging is louder and more prevalent on bumpy roads. I just what to loosen these Double-Nuts and tighten the struts. I cant get two open-end wrenches on the 21mm nuts to get them loose.

The shock is mounted to the top hat which is bolted to the car.

So there is no gap between the strut and the car.... If you think that's where the gap is then you would tighten down the 3 bolts holding the tophat, not the nuts on the shock itself (you would have to compress the spring to loosen those nuts fyi)

Do you have bump stops installed? What kind of noises?

Hmmm, well if you are sure about the sound being on the top of the strut, disregard my advice.

I had some bumping sound coming from both front struts, examined them and found that the "cup" that holds the bottom of the struts was no longer properly lubricated and was making a thumping noise whenever I hit sharp bumps (wierd I know, but I added more lubrication and no more noise).

MuffinMan also has a point about the bump stops. Hopefully you have those or you've been doing nasty things to your struts...
