alright guys, new state law in maine says its illegal to modify your exhaust in any way other than stock, got pulled over last night for excessive exhaust noise cause i was idling at a stop sign and it was too loud, any one know where i can get an OEM itr cat back for cheap or something that is close enough to stock?

i was thinking mugen twin loop but once you get going it can be quit loud and i dont need the hassle from the police.

people from mass and CT come up in the summer to old orchard beach and complain about all the motorcycles and about how loud they are so they passed a law about it without going to vote on it, just snuck it under the radar till it passed

I can understand a certain DB level but no exhaust mods at all?!! That would make me really pissed! Of course you know the cops will profile those like us.
If it's too loud, your too old!

On a serious note how are the cops going to react if you get the stock ITR c/b? I know it will be quiet but that polished tip might give them something to hassle you about.

 

i was thinking about gettin a twinloop and telling them its the OEM exhaust for the JDM itr, they hassle me all the time anyways cause my car is RHD so i figure i get the twinloop they wont know the difference

but yeah no exhaust mod at all, if its not OEM stock exhaust its illegal in the state of maine period so all those company's that make performance exhaust are going to lose a lot of business from maine

well all those bikers are the source of the law in the first place, i personly think its a stupid law, i have no problem with loud cars or bikes but maines age range is 60 and up, its all old people so you know how that goes

 

gay law, must mean there no muffler shops there since anything modded would be illegal

 

Perhaps do what I am about to do. Buy a hytech muffler and weld it to your current piping and add a resonator and flat black the can.

I'd like to see the municipalities just "try" to pass a law like that here in Alabama. This state would have a total revolt!
I'll be the first to say I get sick of ricer exhaust that sounds like a weed eater on meth or the stump pulling 4x4 that you can here 5 min before they get to you and the same as they pass. Problem is if a law gets passed to "tone it down" a bit it will only be a matter of time before they will say they need to make them all quiet. So, I'd rather put up with the noise.

 

I hate it that cops can hassle us with exhausts, but not with Harleys.

well here the law is made not just for cars but harleys also, there part of the main reason it was started its just stupid how they went about it, personally i could care less if you have a loud car or bike but everyone here is old and wines about everything

Got mine from ICB motorsports. I LOVE my exhaust. Sounds stock but when you get in it, there is a low smooth tone to it, but its not loud at all! Looks "stockish" as well.
