Default LS Turbo Swap Worth It?

So I was at a small meet tonight, met a guy who seemed to know a lot, he told me for a turbo build on a budget he would go non-vtec LS swap running like 10psi..

Because when he did a b16 swap back in the day where it cost $4000 ten years ago, his buddy boosted his non-vtec d-series and smoked him.

Is a LS Turbo setup decent? Or should I go for something like a GSR?

P.S. where is a good chunk of info to read up on, as I don't know a whole lot about forced induction, components and the whole setup, like a noob's guide to graduating from N/A

Thanks a lot!

depends on what you can afford man i turbo gsr is going to be faster if the turbo setup and tuning are the same but not everyone can afford to do it right and do a gsr swap if you have a ls already i say boost that bit and pay good money for some damn good tuning you can get around 300 whp outta stock ls with a nice turbo setup

no not really cause you still have to either a head or block PLUS all the turbo stuff.

its easier to just build what you already have and use any left over money for tuning.

exactly i was told on here that it is not safe to make over 500 on a stock block b series, yet i make 488whp on stock internals with 122,xxx miles on the rings and bearings. And i also have 2 friends making over 600whp on stock sleeves, one is at 642whp on a ls-vtec. How many ls motors are making over 600whp on stock sleeves? I dought you will find a stock internal ls that makes over 400whp also.
