Fuel pump location??????
ok so my fuel pump died on my 95 accord ex and i was thinking i have to drop the tank but a couple people told me i could take the back seat out and it would be right there,i thought that was the fuel sending unit????so what do i do?,go under the seat or drop the tank?thanks
drop the tank. the sending unit is the one with an access panel. be sure to remember to drain the fuel before you do this. the tank is quite heavy with fuel in it. there's a drain plug in the tank, but you may have to remove a shield to see it.
i had to drop the tank on my 91 to replace some fuel lines a while back. on my model, the tank is designed to be fairly easy to pull. the straps have easily accessible bolts on the rear-side of the tank.
the problem i ran into was that the bolts were too corroded to back out of the bracket w/o bending it all to hell. (they dont bolt directly to the body. the bracket is like a hollow triangle, so there isnt much to them) i ended up having to work from the front side of the tank, which meant dropping exhaust, pulling heat shield, and loosening the e-brake line. the strap bolts on the front end came out pretty easy, since they are protected by the heat shield, and i think undercoating too... plus those did bolt directly to the body.
the real bitch was dealing with the old fuel lines. mine were corroded pretty bad, so i ended up having to cut some of the steel back, and replace the rubber portions between the fuel pipes and the tank lines. 5/16" I.D. rubber gas line is what fit mine... and some small hose clamps.
all in all, its not too bad.

thanks everyone,i didnt think the pump was under the seats bc i just helped my buddy pull his pump down and he thought his was under the seat but it was the fuel sending unit.
where is the drain plug located?

it's be behind the protective shield that covers the driver's side of the tank. remove the shield. buy a new crush washer for the plug before you put it back. you don't want that leaking.
