Icon6 how low to lower a prelude?

im wondering how low you could lower your prelude before scraping on common curbs. what i mean is when you can lower your car and not have to go up every little curb wit a MEAN *** angle. i already know two inch drops you have to, but those were on different cars. how much would this be half inch? 1 inch? or could it be more? please, if you could tell me how much you lowered your 5th gen. with what springs and rim/tire size and if you dont have much problems going up a curb with a slight angle. [never had a lowered car]

My car is not slammed at all and I hit bottom over speed bumps. Plus my front end bottoms out if I hit large potholes. I have stock wheels and stock sized tires with Koni Yellows and GC coilovers. Rates are 440F and 400R.

I dont think Preludes like to be lowered. The shock travel I have in the front it laughable. I dont know how others drive around in a prelude lower than I am as they must be bottoming out constantly.

I just measured my height and Im about 13 inches from the center of the wheel to the top/center of the wheel wells on both ends of the car.

yea they are pretty low stock already. i just dont know how low. but thats almost how low i want because with bigger wheels like 17's it would almost looked tucked.

I don't recommend anything more than a 1.5" drop.

I lowered mine 3.4 IN in the front and 2.8 in the rear with Oem 15" wheels using teins. And I scrape everywhere. With the wheel on or not. lol

From what people said, it seems the 4th and 5th gens are similar when it comes to lowering it.

Unless you dont care and want to be dumped then by all means, ride on the bumpstops but as you probably already know, your shocks will give a lot sooner than later.

I've done the zip tie trick to check shock travel and the fronts I would say have no more than 4 inches of travel and I would say thats being generous. The rears are fine though.

Here's my car at autox. Even though she performs really well you can see that my front shock travel is pretty much maxed out. Its no Subaru thats for sure but she drives a lot more fun than a stock Subaru thats for sure.

Riding around in the indy area isn't as bad as when i lived in chicago, but there are still some issues. I'm at ~1" lowered in front and ~1.5" in rear on KoniYellows and Ground Control coilovers. This puts my Camber at about 1degree front and 1.5degree rear.

With stock sized wheel's and tires there is no rubbing problems and i still have a decent amount of suspension travel left, there is also very little camber wear on hard compound all season tires like my yokohama yk520's(which i would never reccomend because of the incredible amount of tire noise. I have to use headphones at highway speeds to over come the noise.)

With 17" Enkei's at +45 offset there is quite a bit of rubbing at the top of the rear fenders, i'm planning on rolling the fenders to accomidate the wheels, but i cannot have more than one passenger or about 150lbs of cargo without rubbing constantly. I also use yokohama ES 100(replaced by S.drive) tires on them in 215/40/17 and there is noticeable camber wear after 15k miles, not enough to cause issues but i'm at about 30% life on the inside and 60% life on the outer edges.

As far as scraping or dragging some speedbumps (like the new trend 12" high, 3' wide and the entire length of the lane) i do have to take sideways, but i still rubbed a bit when it was stock height. The only other problem is that i have to hit my driveway at an angle or i'll scrape my front tow hook.

I have no pictures at this time but i have been building a 92 prelude with a rally platform in mind and have 17" focal x wheels that are 8" wide and stick out nice with just enough room as to not contact the fender when suspension is compressed with 215/40/17 falkens i believe. The suspension has polyurethane bushings all around, kyb agx struts front, kyb non adjustables rear, h&r sport springs all around, and all upper ball joints set to provide +1.5 degrees camber. These preludes HATE to be lowered. This setup drops the front aprox. 1.25" and rear only .75" about with agx struts set to max dampening. The rears never give problem however this car is fully stripped out. The front bottoms out relentlessly though the vehicle has fantastic clearance thus far. The front stroke is so great the area above the control arms has been cut out so they swing up close to the hood. Conclusion, no clearance problems with an 1" + or - .5" lowering but recommend stiffest suspension you can find for the front, that wont jar your head off of course!👌

<p>Why in the world would you consider a car's setup to be &quot;rally&quot; when it is lowered and riding on 17&quot; wheels with 215/40 tires?</p><p>Rally cars generally have increased ride height, suspension travel, and sidewall clearance. Even Rallycross and TSD rallies, which would be the tamest versions of rally racing, are run on courses with varied and rough terrain.</p>
