Default Are you a 2g crx Guru? Come here!

Hi all, new here but I've been looking through the forums for a couple of days. I know someone is probably going to tell me to search but I tried and couldn't find what I was looking for..

Soo I recently bought a 1990 crx si. The motor was swapped out for a d15z1 but the owner's of it told me it just flooded the cylinders after about an hour running. They suggested a fuel pressure regulator and possibly a new injector. My question is what else do I actually need? They mentioned an obd0 to obd1 harness which I was just going to order up a boomslang one. It's been a little tricky looking for parts for this because they told me to order parts for the stock engine so I was hoping someone who really knows these cars or this swap could give some insight. Or possibly some links to good info is always helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Do you know which injectors they used? There's a difference between pre OBD and OBD1 injectors, maybe they used the newer ones without properly converting the wiring aspect (or vice versa)? Just a thought. Do you know what ECU it is running off of? Is the car already converted to OBD1 or did the previous owner just do a one-for-one swap with the engine and didn't change anything else?

Hmm I don't know about the injectors or what ecu it is but I think they did swap the ecu, he said it would run with just the regulator but I would have to get the cable for vtec. He also said it's just the block that's vtec, and the stamp definitely says d15z1. I'm hoping to get it to my house this weekend and I can figure out more details.

I'm just curious because the boomslang site that the cable is on says I'll need an obd1/2 distributor and 4-wire O2 sensor.

Flooded sounds like tehy used 235/240cc injectors

the d15z1 is vtec-e, a lean burning economy motor from a 92-95 VX civic hatch

They run 190-cc injectors if memory serves me correctly.

Take a picture of the injector plugs and post them, we can help you figure out if they are wrong.

Another solution is to buy an aftermarket adjustable fuel pressure regulator from ebay (they work fine) and lower the pressure so you can drive it to a junkyard and source the injectors.

If they are indeed 190cc, you can also choose to source from a d16y7 civic, 96-00 DX or LX, and get injector adapters to run them

Alright I guess I'll get back to you guys on the injectors.

Is the cable an absolute necessity or no?

Sorry for the lack of info at the moment, any links to good guides on this particular swap?
