Exhaust pipe routing
Does it make a difference (actual, not theoretical) if you run the exhaust piping like stock (with many bends) as opposed to the straighter custom jobs that people are using with canister style mufflers? I don't really care about looks, but more flow is better. I'm not too hip on the idea of a canister style either as most seem to be too loud for my tastes. Are there any quiet canister mufflers? Will I have an easier time installing a larger rear sway with a stock routed exhaust?
the straighter the piping, the better.
it will show up on the dyno as better low end if you have straighter piping, with no loss on the top end.

I got a hp canister (they are all the same) and got it put on. Its not loud at all, barely makes a humming noise. If you get the cat straight piped it will be alot louder, i have lots of friends that have it done.
I've got my can style installed today with 2.25" piping, no resonator, and stock cat. Its routed like stock and its not as loud as i expected it to be. Have you ever heard a Tanabe RM with no silencer? Its quieter than that and its just a few decibles louder than my 99 Si w/ Greddy Evo w/ no cat.
I took off my custom exhaust piping...if u want it u can let me know..its 2.25 and custom bent to go through like stock....I also have a rs*r invidia [skunk2]..on it. Not too loud I think...more bass actually. I liked it a whole lot.
