Default Juicin' Fools

What is the going rate for an alignment lately? I took my hatch to a locally owned alignment shop and the guy tells me it'll come to $135.xx after tax!!!!! wtf!? Says it'll take waaaay longer cause it's a lowered vehicle, so they have to charge a premium... isn't the rate around 75 bux or so? or are ya'll just juicin' fools cuz you're tired of sending ricers home cuz you can't align their janky sh*t proper? Sorry to rant, but has anyone else been charged extra cuz their car was lowered?

Depends if you need camber adjusted. Toe is no harder to adjust on a lowered car. Camber is a little harder because you have to raise the car to make adjustments. But the rack should have a built in lift for this reason. 135 is high. Call around and find one for $80-100. Toe is the most important setting. Get it set to 0 so your tires wont wear prematurely.

I have been very frustrated about the rising rates for alignments too. They are stupid expensive. Also, I have a race car and really need to sit in the car while they do the alignment and most of them will tell you no way. I had one 2 weeks ago and was pretty desperate as I needed it in time for a track day the next day. I found an independently owned NAPA service center and told the guy what I needed on the phone. He said no problem and got me on the rack as soon as I got there. I had made a ton of changes to the car and the alignment took a really long time. Came out to about $90 or so. Turned out the guy I talked to was the owner. I paid way more the previous 2 times and I couldn't sit in the car. Sucks but I think you have to find the right shop. Try to ask the auto-x/track guys in your area that are lazy or have too much money for who they use. I say that as the cheap/serious guys do their own alignments. I just don't have the setup or confidence to try it.

A premium becuase your lowerd?

Do you have a camber kit or something, its no harder to adjust the toe on a lowerd car or stock car.

yeah, have skunk2 pro+ camber kit up front and blox in the rear. Got the alignment at a firestone for 79 bucks, but i stood and watched while the tech was doing it. Had to ask him to bounce the car in between adjustments though... he was thinkin he had it; when he bounced it - he noticed some changes. Definitely need to look around for a shop that'll work with me & has more knowledgeable/experienced techs.
