So my friend drove to mcdonalds to get food and was getting on it and miss 3rd and hit 1st, the car died and didn't turn back on....i need help...this is my only car...did i fry the ecu??????/

 

Check your relays and fuses first. Make sure the fuel pump turns on and that you have fuel pressure. You'll need to find which system isn't working. Try checking your valve timing. You might borrow a noid light set from a parts store and verify that the injectors are firing. Make sure you're getting spark. Avoid turning the motor over until you know what's going on, if possible.

 

The ecu is probably not fried. Most likely more serious than that. Can you turn the engine over by hand?

 

How do you turn it over by hand im really new at this

 

He wants to know if you can rotate the crank with a wrench or if there's resistance preventing it.

 

If it helps theres a burning smell like when you hook up a cd player wrong

 

No offence, but perhaps you should take it to a more experienced mechanic if you not sure how to turn the engine over by hand.

 

x2 its easy to do but might want to get some help, you can really mess up allot if you don't know what your doing.

 

could missing the shift and stalling move the motor and break the ground? It really sounds like it became ungrounded

Ive seen multiple people miss gears completely trash their valves. Hopefully thats not that case but you could be looking at a complete topend rebuild...

 

So he missed 3rd and went to 1st instead and over-revved the engine? I've heard of a few people destroying engines this way. I would take it to a mechanic if you arent comfortable diagnosing it yourself.

 

So he did a 1-2-1 shift? If so then your valves bent and possibly dropped. Your motor said bye bye.
