cyp and ect problems
Hey guys just wanna say hi since im new
Ive been having a few problems with my poor mans type r, i have been throwing a number 9 code since i picked the car up, i have changed the dizzy a few times and this time i have a dizzy off of a car that was throwing no codes, as soon as i installed it, it instantly threw the code. I have checked the continuity from the ecu to the plug past the plug and everything is good. i did this for both wires with the same result. now i am lost at what to check or even look at now. i also took a ohm reading of all of the wires at the plug and for all the pairs i was reading 425 ohm's for all of them.
For the ect, i had a shop install a new head on the car, and when i got it back it was throwing this code. i have replaced the sensor with nothing changing. i also took a ohm reading of the sensor and it was fine cold and hot. i also checked all of the wires for continuity and it was perfect as well so i have no explanation for the code.
If anyone has any ideas of what i can check or if there is anything i should do that would be really helpful. Thanks for everyone's time and help.

thanks for the info, i have checked continuity of all of the wires, and i found a diagram using the search, and so far the only thing that keeps popping up is i need to change out the ecm. so ill do that tomorrow and see what happens.

well im still having this problem, and i took the ecu and put it in a diff car and its not throwing the codes, i went and re checked the wiring and on b12 i am getting a body ground when its connected to the ecu, when its unpluged from the ecu i get nothing, so i am totally lost now, any thing new that i should try at this point?
Do similar short testing in the ECT sensor circuit.
well that makes a lot of sense, ill have to go check that when ever it stops raining here, ill also have to do this for the ECT since i just replaced the sensor

well its been a few days, and i have checked a few diff things now and looked through more threads, tomorrow i am going to a junk yard to find a new ecu plug so i can re wire the new plug in to see if it fixes the problem since it seems like the problem is in the plug its self.
One of the few questions that i still have is that since the ecu has been chipped and run on chrome, is there anything in that circuit that i should check or look into for the problem, i have a basic knowledge of how everything works and how it should look and it looks fine but beyond that i dont know what to look at.
thanks for all the help its really appreciated.

ok well i have replaced the actual plug that goes in to the ecu so that eliminates that problem, car is still throwing a #9 and i am completely lost at what to do now, any help would be appreciated.

i have not checked for the short again, but ill be doing that here in a few mins, if i dont have access to a known good ecu are there any other options?
well i still have the short going in to the ecu so it seems like it has to be in the ecu its self, guess now i have to try and find an ecu that i know is working
well i swapped out the dizzy for another one, that was known working, and to no avail. I am going to a local shop tomorrow try the ecu in someone's car to make sure its not the ecu so hopefully this problem is almost over lol.
ok well i swaped out the ecu for a known working one, and im still getting the wonderful codes. so for now i am completely lost, i think i might have to install the new dizzy to make sure it isnt 180 out but i have no ideas as to what it can be anymore unless there is something else in this circuit that can affect the CYP.
thats what it sounds like, so im gonna have to go and try it all again, and then go from there. i used this link https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/how-fix-cel-code-9-cylinder-sensor-1405526/ to try and check everything but i guess its time to start over
ok well i went back through and i fallowed the guide to the t and everything is checking fine there are no grounds in the cyp circuit and i know the ecu is good because i have put it in another car, and i have put another working ecu into this car, so i am lost as to what to check or even try at this point
ok well i know that the problem has to be in the wiring, im starting to think that who ever had wired the car before me is the cause of the problem. My logic 2 ground is tapped into the brown/ black wire, which could be right or not im not sure at this point, I have a Pink/black wire that is just sitting there, i have a brown/red and a Blue/red doing nothing as well, i know this cant be right so i need to take a fresh start tomorrow ill post up results
well im starting to think that there is a break in the harness its self because i am getting continuity between a few of the different sensor wires, these wires are all grounding out to the chasie and showing a link between them, they are all going through the loom going to the distributor and could possibly be split and grounding out through the logic ground which is tied into the main ground for this plug
anyone have any other ideas on what i should be looking for now
blue/yellow, white/blue, blue/white are all getting chasie grounds

bump for any ideas as i am completely stumped at this point, and any insight would be awesome, cause i have been searching threads with absolutely no luck.
