Can you use stock seatbelt with aftermarket seats?
Hey all. I have a 90 civic hatchback and, as usual, the seats are pretty much dead. They are completely torn open and the foam padding is pretty much just falling out at this point. Anyway, my buddy has those arospeed seats, the Recaro knock offs, and he said i can use them if I just buy the mounting brackets.
Anyway, the female end of the seatbelt is connected to my stock seat brackets, is there a way to utilize this on aftermarket seats or are you forced to put in a 'racing' harness. I really don't want to put in a harness because I've read that if you don't have it installed properly it can be quite dangerous in an accident and do more harm than good. I want to stick with the stock seatbelts but is it possible to put the female end on an aftermarket seat?
I've been searching for hours but can't find any info on this. Most of the info i find is just about swapping in OEM seats. If i can't utilize the stock seatbelts I might end up getting some CRX SI seats if my ex will let me have them. Would it be easier to just try and find Stock seats / swap in seats from another Honda?
Thanks guys.

A few aftermarket mounting brackets come with holes made for mounting the female buckle part. With most other aftermarket mounting brackets, you have to drill a hole on the right mounting bracket and mount the OEM female buckle part to it. Just be creative and use high grade nuts and bolts.
Thanks! Do most seats have the same hole pattern on the bottom or do I need to get brackets and sliders specific to my seat? The only info I can dig up about arospeed is that they are a Recaro knock off. I'm not even sure they're still around as there web presence is seems to be next to none.
So can I just get like sparco , or recaro brackets for the civic and go or will I have to find something specific to the seat as well?
Sorry for all the dumb questions. I'm a complete newb.

Make sure you make a clear descision on seats. If you have a hatchback, the CRX seats you mentioned will not fit in your car. You will need to do a seat pan swap if you want to go this direction.
The crx seats were really comfy though and would match better than my buddies seats . If she decides to just junk the car I might take them off her hands. (I put it in to a stone cliff and messed up the front end, for those wondering why she might be junking it.)
Recaro and sparco use the same seating brackets. You can contact Ben from Importparts here and get the brackets for your car. They have the stock seatbelt mount already on them, just take yours off of the stock seat. They were 210 for the pair when I got the type r knock offs, this is from my receipt "Sparco Brackets 90-91 Civic HB - Pair 500990/500991

the 88 belt lock is mounted to the floor. And i think the rails are different.
swapping the pans is really not that hard, and will be a perfect fit.

As much as I love the CRX seats I don't think I would keep them in simply for the fact that they say CRX on them and I don't drive a CRX. But then again I don't plan on keeping the arospeed seats in forever either as they really don't match the car well color wise. Eventually ill probably want to get something nicer like actual Recaros or something. I haven't really thought about it yet as thats a long ways down the road.
