OK SO I JUST TRADED A 93 COUPE FOR A 91 EF THE EF WITH A D15B7 WILL ONLY REV TO 4 GRAND AND SEEMS TO HIT REV LIMITER NO ITS NOT LAUNCH CONTROL DOES IT IN ALL GEARS ...WHEN DRIVING IF I DOWN SHIFT IT WILL GO ABOVE 4 TO WHAT ITS SUPPOSE TO BE THEN IF I HIT THE GAS IT JUST STARTS TACHING.
SO WE CHECKED THE TIMING AND IN TDC THE CAM GEAR WHERE IT SAYS UP IS AT THE BOTTOM SO ITS 180DEGREES OUT OF TIME...CORRECT?

HERES WHAT I CAME UP WITH
CEL CODES 1,4,14
WHICH 1 IS OXYGEN SENSOR
4 IS CRANKS POSITION SENSOR (THROWING THAT CODE CAUSE ITS OUT OF TIME...CORRECT?)
14 IAC VALVE WHICH IT IDLES SHITTY ANY WAYS IF I CLEANED IT WOULD THAT HELP?(PROBABLY) BUT NOT SURE

SO MY QUESTIONS ARE...
1. WILL BEIN 180 DEGRESS OUT MAKE IT ONLY REV TO 4 GRAND?
2.COULD IT BE INJECTOR BAD? EVEN THO NO CODE IS BEING THROWN?
3.DUDE SAYS HE USED A VTEC ECU BUT THE CARS NON VTEC...WOULDNT IT THROW VTEC CODES OFF THO?
4.COULD IT BE WIRING HARNESS?

CPS, crank position sensor is located in the dizzy. get a new distributor or borrow one from a friend to see if that checks out. same thing happen to me. good luck.

 

Well i dont know what kind off distributor you are using (vtec, obd 0/ 1??)
but I think that its the distributor wiring or timing if not then get the right ecu for your setup!

 

ok so it has the right ecu i switched dizzys with my buddy and still code 4 put my dizzy on his and its good. so we switched back and stilll same thing.

 

The engine wouldn't run if the cam were 180 degrees out. It probably wouldn't run at all if it were only off 3-4 teeth, and it would run poorly if it were off 1-2 teeth. You'd better re-check that cam timing.

You most likely have a wiring issue due to someone doing a half-assed hack job while swapping the wrong engine into the car. You never mentioned which ECU, fuel injection system, and/or distributor you're using, so we can only speculate.

 

ok il give you a complete run down of whats going on.
i have a d15b7 in a ef hatch...got it by trading 93civic coupe d15b7 with #3 beat piston with chunk missin out of it and 6 bad valves also bad axle and bad map sensor.the guy told me that it had a 1.6 vtec in in it blew so they put a b7 manuel 4speed in it.the car wont rev past 4 grand.but it doesnt really seem to tach but like wah-wah instead of taching like done-done-done. but when im drivin i can go from 4th to 2nd and it will go higher than 4 but when i give it gas it goes wah wah wah.
he also said he the reason its doin it is because he used the wrong ecu but its a p06 a01 manual ecu.(not the wrong one)
so i cheked the cel code which thrrew of 1 o2 sensor, 4 cps(crank position sensor) and a 14 iac or eac which ever. ok so the car idled bad also so i took the iac valve (eac) off cleaned it and it helped the idle but still thrwe the code.(reset the ecu before i started it up).And for the code 4 i swapped dizzys with my buddy(same motor d15b7)and it still threw the crank position sensor code.as for the code 1 i look at the o2 sensor and realizied it didint have a connector(wires ran from it directly to the harness) weird huh? also the connector to the dizzy(the one with 2 wires only blue and black)had a red wire connected to the blue wire.i looked to see where it came from it comes from the harness.also the other connector to the dizzy(the one with about 10 wires to it also had a red wire connected to a blue wire on it, it also cam from the harness.i think that those wires arent in the right place so i switched the two red wires around and nothing happened.also when i was underneath it the wire harness witch runs up to the injectors had a yellow and red wire hangin i couldnt figure out where it went but i followed where it came from it came from the wires that go to the injectors but none of the injector wires are the same color.

That at least tells us that it has been "converted" to OBD-1 either via a jumper harness or some sort of wiring hack job. I'm assuming the car started out as a DPFI model.

The fact that there are miscellaneous wires grafted in there tells us that the wiring harness is most likely buggered up pretty well. So, it was converted from pre-OBD DPFI to OBD-1, possibly VTEC, with a who-knows-what amalgamation of parts.

And the fact that you are doodling around under the hood switching wires *****-nilly without knowing what they are actually for or consulting a wiring diagram tells us that you have no clue what you're doing and probably shouldn't be touching it without experienced assistance.

Yeah, my money is on a wiring problem. If it were my car, I'd probably just construct my own new wiring harness rather than deal with that nightmare.

well i fixed the problem one of the crank positoins wires wasnt connect she ran good but then messed up once again pulled over got the cel codes 7,9,10,14 looked under the hood my tps came undone plugged in reset ecu fixed that one but for the code 9 thats cylinder sensor i kno tose wires are good checked them all the way to ecu pretty sure i need a new dizzy now......but any suggestions?

 

i no 14 is iac valve and 14 is iat need a new iac but still gotta track the iat wires
