Default What do you think?

My girlfriends brother told me his friend has a H22 motor for sale for $400. He said he bought it for his Civic but sold it so he's doing the same with his motor. From what I was told from my girlfriends brother is that it's just the motor, he thinks he has the ECU but he knows there is no trans. The only thing that he knows is wrong is the other guy took off the head, to replace the pistons but never did, and never bought a new gasket to put back on. Don't know if it's JDM or USDM but he believes the other guy bought it from a dealership. I don't know to much about it right now but I will hopefully know more tonight. I'm not sure about the millage or over all condition but since he has the head off it should give me a good idea of the condition of the motor. How hard is it to find an ECU and a trand for the H22? How much do they cost? Also, my plan has been to get a motor and rebuild it before I swap it in. So with this in mind do you think this might be worth it. It sounds good to me but what about you guys? What sort of things should I make sure to ask and look for on the motor?

$400 is great. Finding an ECU and tranny is easy. Get it. A longblock usually sells for around $1100. If you gotta replace the head gasket, while the motor is on a stand, its gotta be cake.

sensors for sure or else you could end up spending just as much jsut getting the motor working as you would if you had just gone ahead and bought a complete longblock.
